JUNGKOOK
As Aria moved toward the door, I felt something inside me snap. This wasn't happening—not after everything we'd been through, everything we'd fought for. There was no way I was going to just stand here and watch her walk out of my life. If her mom wanted to fight, I was more than ready. But this? This being the end is something I couldn't fathom.
Desperation filled me, and before I even knew what I was doing, I was right behind her and on my knees. I reached out, my voice choked with a rawness I'd never felt before. "Baby, please... don't do this. Don't walk away. Not like this."
She stopped mid-step, her hand gripping the doorframe as if it were the only thing holding her up. I could see the pain in her body language, the way she was trembling, and I knew this was tearing her apart just as much as it was me.
"Ari," I pleaded, my voice barely holding steady, "I know you think this is the only way to protect me, but leaving—" I shook my head, the anguish clawing its way into my words. "Leaving won't keep us safe. It'll just destroy us both."
She turned slowly, her eyes meeting mine, and I could see the silent war raging inside her. Tears streamed down her face, and she pressed her lips together, trying to hold back the sobs that threatened to break free. "I... I don't want to do this, Jungkook. But if something happened to you, I'd never forgive myself."
A strangled cry escaped her, and she collapsed onto her knees in front of me, her hands reaching out to touch my face. I caught her wrists, holding her close, our foreheads touching as we both tried to breathe through the agony tearing us apart.
"I can't lose you." My voice trembled, raw emotion breaking through each word. "You're my life. You're my everything. And if that means I have to fight every battle, face every threat to keep you, then I'll do it. But don't ask me to let you go. Don't ask me to live without you. You're my air, baby. I can't fucking breathe without you."
Her hands tightened against my face, and she closed her eyes, pressing her forehead harder against mine. "Then... then what are we supposed to do? How do we keep you safe without giving her what she wants?"
"We don't give her any more power by letting her win. We don't let her tear us apart." I brushed a tear away from her cheek, my thumb lingering against her skin. "You are mine, Ari. And I am yours. That's fucking permanent." I lifted my shirt and took her hand, pressing it over my heart where her name was inked into my skin."This... this is forever, just like the promise we made to each other."
She opened her eyes, her gaze flicking to the tattoo, her lips trembling as fresh tears slipped down her cheeks. "This isn't over, Aria. I don't care what kind of power your mom thinks she has. I'm not letting her control our lives. We just have to figure out a way to disarm her."
She shook her head, struggling to breathe through the tears. "Okay, but what if... what if it's only temporary?" Her voice was so soft, I almost didn't catch the words. "What if... we take some space, just until we figure something out? I... I don't know how else to protect you."
