After defeating Ender and Wren, Josh travels back through the Trench woods, hoping to reach home in time to be in the crypts. He is desperate to know if the curse is broken, and if his beloved Tyler is alive.

Walking back through the Trench woods gave Josh time to think, and with each step, he reflected on everything that he went through to save his dear flower.

The fighting, the bloodshed, the torment. It was unimaginable to comprehend that this was what it took to save Tyler and his people.

When Josh arrives in Trench, he immediately discovers that the crypts are empty. Ari and Olene are no where to be found, nor is there any sign of his people being there.

This worried Josh. He had expected Ari and Olene to greet him upon his arrival. He couldn't even see Petruso and Dasha's children running around, which they've always done.

Fearing for the worst, Josh raised his hands to his mouth and called for anyone who could be in the vicinity of the crypts.

"Hello?" He called. "Can anyone hear me?!"

No one responded.

"Hello?!"

Suddenly, a familiar voice called back to him.

"Lord Josh!"

Josh turns his head and sees Ari waving his hand in the air; standing at the center of the crypts.

"Ari!" He responded.

The man runs towards him and embraces him. Ari looks at his leader and is relieved to see him again.

"Thank the maker, you returned to us."

"Yes, I am glad to be back too. The enemy is defeated."

When Ari heard of this, he was very pleased. The man who tortured and tormented his wife, along with all the women of Trench, was finally destroyed for good.

"What you did had to be done." He said. "Our people will be safe now."

Josh was grateful for Ari and Olene's service, but he was desperate for answers on his flower's life.

"Ari, where's Tyler?"

When he was asked about the child, Ari looked down to the ground in sadness. Josh noticed his friend's sorrow and became very worried and fearful.

"Ari, is Tyler alive?"

At last, the Bandito told him the truth.

"Lord Josh, I'm afraid..."

The man started choking up.

"The child has not awoken from the curse."

When he heard this, Josh began to feel his heart breaking into pieces. His glimmer of hope that he fought for was diminishing before him, which brought him to tears.

Gathering his little composure, Josh looked back to Ari, who also was just as grief stricken by the news.

"I want to see him."

Ari agreed, and led his master to Tyler's tomb, where the child lay in near death. There was barely any color left on his cheeks. His flower crown was withering away, as well as the flower bouquet that laid across his chest.

When Josh saw that his love appeared to be dead, he felt himself beginning to cry. The spell seemed to have permanently taken over, and there was nothing left to be done.

"Tyler, oh my sweet darling child."

The man started weeping.

"Oh, God, no..."
