CHAPTER 3: Clean Heart
Music: Clean Heart by Life.Church WorshipMain Verse: Psalm 51:10-15 ESV
Highlight Verse: Psalm 51:10
[10] Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.All of us desire this- a clean heart. Somehow, we experienced trials and some difficulties that make us troubled to achieve this. Clean heart means accepting our mistakes, and willing to correct for all wrongdoings and inappropriate actions and words. We want to get rid of dirt, but living in this world, most of us have scars and darkness, and can't hide the need to take time to heal.
Impurities give us judgement, without knowing behind the story, we are always receiving unacceptable words or mostly, negative comments. It is connected to a clean heart, if we're not known who we are, the impurities will always end up in chaos, pain and negative thoughts.
I will tell you a story, before I had an unclean heart, but I am a soft-hearted person. I did not cause any big trouble to my family. I just can't easily forgive those people who hurt me a lot. For me, that was a hard time and I think I am not also deserving of forgiveness because I am like a rock. However, time is so fast I found myself accepting who I am first.
It is because of Jesus, He taught me to forgive like what He did for us. First, I need to forgive myself. I need to accept all the areas in my life afterwards, I can fully understand inside and outside of me.
Lastly, it will follow once I already surrender all to God.
I have a long journey for this, until I seek Him. (Matthew 6:33) I realized a lot of things that I need to know.
Cleaning takes time, but the best way is surrendering to Him. I discovered it has three concepts; 1) Purity 2)Motivation and 3) Desire.
Purity means the quality of being pure. In God's word, Psalm 86:11, [11] Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name. From this, we need the Lord to have a clean heart- a pure one to have a fear and understand who we are.
Motivation, according to google it is a process of inducing and stimulating an individual to act in a certain manner. All of us want to have motivation. To enjoy life, to understand anything and to grow better. In God's word, Colossians 3:23 (ESV) [23] Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men. This is great and reminding me that I need to do everything for the Lord, not for me or to anybody.
Lastly, Desire means having a strong wish to do something you aim for. In God's word, Matthew 6:21 (ESV) [21] For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. The verse highly informs us that our heart is always connected to any desires that we have.
I'm happy to know and understand His words. Then as I continued knowing Him, I found from the book of Matthew 5:8 (ESV) it says there, "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
From that, I want to see God not literally but I want more of His presence. I want to grow and feel that I am not doing this for my own sake, but to have God's glory and maintain pure for Him. So, I always open to Him all about me. I talk every minute or hour if I think my decisions and actions are not good or match. I ask for guidance, wisdom and His protection. I reminded you, dear, we need Him. He is the key to having a pure heart. If you want more of Him, pray and ask about it.
Now, let's undestand the heart. Heart is a very important part of our body. This is the fundamental place of our Lord, His temple. Also, the heart refers to our inner self because it is the truest part of ourselves. Heart knows what we feel that connects to our mind to do the right and wrong. Yet, this heart belongs to our God, this is the wellspring of our life. (Proverbs 4:23, Proverbs 15:13)
The heart's main function is to move blood throughout our body. Spiritually, our heart is connected to our God to have a smooth and secure momentum. The value of heart aside from connecting to God, we can reach other people like our loved ones, friends, churchmate and our partner in life.
Our hearts symbolise love, affection, self-identity, personal value, emotional growth, hidden emotions that hold the psychological, physical, emotional and spiritual meanings to our life. All of this, centeralize Jesus. Knowing and Having Him in our life can overcome anything.
Maintaining a clean or pure heart isn't easy, there are times we're tested, well, every day we are tested with our small or big challenges in our life. Most of the battle is ourselves, not the others. Ourselves is the one who absorbs all powers, and results.
After all, it is not just about cleaning your heart. It is how I want to have a pure heart through God's grace. A pure heart that will lead a longer relationship with God.
Even though I know He is Holy, and I will still want to have a pure heart that encourages me to know Him more. It can be hard to achieve but through faith, God will help to understand all of this- having a clean heart.
