Adhyay's pov
Dadi sa's words made me pause, her excitement obvious as she clasped her hands together, eyes sparkling with joy. "Adhyay beta, ab tum dono jaake engagement ki rings le lo! Tab tak hum shaadi ka joda select karte hain, aur phir jewelry kharidne aate hain!"
I exchanged a quick glance with Meera, who gave a small, amused smile. She looked just as surprised as I felt, though her expression hinted at a bit of relief too. We both knew the ring-shopping part was special—our moment to make a choice together, away from the bustling crowd of our families.
With a nod, I agreed, "Ji, Dadi sa. Hum jaake le aate hain."
Meera and I turned to leave, and I could feel the soft murmurs of our families behind us, all likely speculating what kind of rings we'd choose. As we made our way out of the store and into the mall, I took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the moment settling in. This wasn't just another shopping trip; this was about finding a symbol that would represent both of us.
"So...rings, huh?" I said, trying to keep things light.
Meera laughed softly. "Yeah, I think this might be the most important thing we pick out today."
I grinned, nodding. "Let's make it count, then."
We entered a jewellery store, and the atmosphere shifted. Everything sparkled under the bright lights, and the displays were filled with endless possibilities. Meera's gaze drifted over the rings, her expression thoughtful. I could tell she was taking it all in, trying to picture what might suit us best.
The store was already reserved for me, so it was completely empty with just the staff there,
The store Manager approached us with a warm smile. "Congratulations on your engagement Rana sa! Let me know if you need any help, or if you're looking for anything specific."He said
Meera and I exchanged a quick glance, both of us feeling a little overwhelmed by the choices. After thanking the attendant, we slowly started browsing, stopping occasionally to point out designs to each other. Some were simple, others more ornate, but none seemed quite right.
"What do you think of this one?" I asked, holding up a ring with a sleek band and a small, brilliant diamond at the center.
Meera tilted her head, examining it carefully. "It's nice, but... I don't know, I feel like it should be something a little more... us."
I nodded, understanding what she meant. This wasn't about picking the flashiest or the most traditional ring—it was about finding something that represented the unique journey we were about to start together.
As we continued browsing, Meera's eyes landed on a set of rings with matching designs. They were elegant, with an intricate pattern etched along the band and a single, tasteful diamond embedded in each. Something about them felt balanced, classic yet modern, and they had a quiet charm that immediately caught my attention.
"What about these?" Meera asked, her voice soft, almost hesitant.
