Adhyay's povThe Roka ceremony went smoothly. Abhimaan and Parnika both looked nervous, exchanging shy glances. It was sweet, really—classic arranged marriage jitters. I'm sure they'll settle into comfort soon enough. But today, the most surprising—and honestly, the most concerning—thing wasn't the couple.
It was Meera.
What was up with her?
From the moment we arrived, she'd been... different. The woman couldn't stop pecking my cheeks, stealing kisses, and openly flirting. And it wasn't subtle. Oh no. The family noticed everything. Kaki sa, Maa sa, Devi—everyone kept shooting us teasing glances, chuckling like they were in on some inside joke.
And the most baffling part? Meera didn't care. At all.
Usually, she's reserved around family, keeping her affection private. But today? Today, madam was on a mission. She clung to my arm, kissed me at random, and beamed at me like I hung the moon.
I rubbed the back of my neck, trying to keep my composure. Aaj madam ko bohot pyaar aa raha tha. (Today, madam was feeling very affectionate.) Don't get me wrong—I'm not complaining. But I wasn't ready for this. The looks from our family? Yeah, they were relentless.
I know it's her hormones and the babies making her extra affectionate. But still, yaar, a little warning would've been nice! Every time I tried to pull away or remind her we were in public, she just grinned and whispered, "Tumhare saath hoon, sab perfect hai." (I'm with you, everything is perfect.)
How do you argue with that?
So, I did the only thing I could: smiled through it and tried not to combust from all the teasing.
By the time the ceremony wrapped up, I was exhausted—not from the event, but from surviving Meera's unfiltered affection. And honestly? I wouldn't have it any other way.
I sat on the bed, scrolling through my phone, unwinding after the long day. The door creaked open, and Meera walked in, still in her saree from earlier. Her smile was soft, but her eyes? Mischievous. Something was definitely up.
"Adhyay..." she called out, her voice unusually sweet. Too sweet.
I glanced up, raising an eyebrow. Yeh kahaan jaa raha hai? (Where is this going?)
"Yes, biwi?" I replied, matching her tone, curious but cautious."Adhyay... shhh," she whispered, locking the door behind her and placing a finger to her lips. I couldn't help but chuckle.
"What's going on, baby?" I asked, watching her saunter toward me with a grin that spelled trouble.
She sat beside me on the bed, curling into my side, her arms wrapping around mine. "Mr. Ranawat... I think the babies want something," she said, her hand resting on her barely visible bump, eyes twinkling with mischief.
Oh boy. Here we go.
I placed my hand over hers, smiling. "And what exactly do they want, baby?"
Her eyes locked with mine, a playful glint in them. "You."
