Adhyay's POV
Her smile, that damn smile, never wavered. She had a way of making everything feel so effortless, so natural, even when the world around us was chaotic. The way she held my gaze like she was silently reassuring me that we were fine, that we were together—I couldn't deny how much I needed that.
She wasn't just my wife. She was my anchor. And even though I had my doubts—about everything, about her secretive meetings, the veiled parts of her life that I didn't fully understand—there was something in the way she stood before me now, calm and steady, that made it all feel insignificant.
I watched her closely as she took a step closer, her eyes still holding that playful gleam, her lips curling into that teasing smile I was learning to love more with every passing day.
"You don't have to worry, Adhyay," she said softly, her fingers tracing the edge of my sleeve as if she was trying to ground me. Her touch was warm, familiar, and it sent a shiver down my spine. "I know you trust me. But sometimes, I just need you to trust us, too."
Her words sank deep into me. There was no room for second-guessing, no space for doubt. She was telling me, without words, that we were a team. We had always been. And whatever we faced, whatever secrets we kept, we could handle it together.
I didn't respond right away. Instead, I reached up, brushing a stray lock of hair from her face, my fingers lingering for just a moment longer than necessary. My heart was racing, but it wasn't because I was angry anymore. It was because, standing here with her in front of me, I realized how much I needed her by my side.
"Meera," I whispered, my voice thick with emotion, "I don't know what's going on with all these secrets. I don't know why you feel like you need to hide things from me, but I just... I need you to know that I'm here. I'm always here, no matter what."
She looked up at me, her eyes softening, as though she could see the uncertainty I had been holding in. She didn't say anything at first. Instead, she leaned in slowly, her lips brushing against mine in a kiss that was gentle at first, but then deepened as if she was silently telling me everything she couldn't put into words.
For a moment, nothing else mattered. Not the secrets, not the unknowns. Just her and me, and this unspoken promise between us that no matter what came next, we would face it together.
When she finally pulled back, her forehead resting against mine, I could still feel the warmth of her breath on my skin. There was something about the way she looked at me now, something that told me she was opening up, little by little, letting me in.
"You're right," she said, her voice low and steady. "I trust you. But I need you to trust me, too. I need you to understand why some things need to stay hidden—for now."
I nodded, taking a deep breath. "I do. I trust you. I just need to know that whatever happens... you're still here. With me. And we'll deal with everything else together."
Her eyes sparkled, and the smile that tugged at her lips was more than just playful now. It was full of something deeper, something more profound.
"I'm right here, Adhyay," she said, her voice steady and sure. "And I'm not going anywhere."
That was all I needed to hear. In that moment, I felt a wave of relief wash over me. I didn't know what the future held, or what secrets she was still hiding from me. But I knew this—Meera and I, we were in this together. And that was enough for me.
We didn't need to have all the answers right now. All we needed was each other. And with that, I pulled her back into my arms, kissing her again, this time with a depth that reflected everything I couldn't say out loud.
