Chaerin's heart was beating fast. The tape on her mouth only making it harder to breath, small sweat pearls running down her neck.
Her wrists and ankles were tied together by a thick rope, forcing her to sit on the wooden stool.
In front of her were five, strong-looking, tall men, whose eyes were practically glued on her.
"Never thought that i would be able to talk to you again, all alone as well." A to Chaerin familiar voice stepped out of the shadows, revealing a dirty smile.
"And without you giving me backtalk with that pretty little mouth of yours." he spoke, walking around her.
Chaerin's mumbles were slowly fading as soon as she saw that man. Her brows were furrowed as if she couldn't believe who was standing in front of her.
His index finger slid across the tape on her mouth, drawing little circles on it.
"You know what, i kind of miss your voice." With that, the man harshly ripped off the tape, causing Chaerin to begin to cough.
A burning feeling paved its way through her lungs, making it almost impossible to breath. As soon as Chaerin regained her strength, she became more aggressive, yelling back at the familiar man.
"What the hell do you want ? You fucking psychopath." her voice was cracked and faded, not sounding as powerful as she wanted it to be.
The man in front her broke out into laughter, propping his upper body with his hands on his knees. His laugh was crazy and shrill, causing goosebumps.
"Chaerin, don't you remember the promise you made ?" He asked, only inches apart from her face. The smell of alcohol and nicotine came from his mouth, making Chaerin squirm in her seat.
Thousands of thoughts were crossing her mind, trying to think what he exactly meant.
"Wow" he stated, taking a few steps to walk behind her.
Lee Chan was a former school friend of hers, attending the same middle school due to their parents friendship. He was the son of a japanese mafia leader, his mother being korean.
Over the years, Beomseok managed to keep the friendship between him and Chan's father, having his business always in the back of his mind. Surely knowing that there wouldn't be good blood between them if it wasn't for the mafia.
Chan on the other hand, had always more than good intentions for Chaerin. To him, she was everything. His feelings quickly developed from a pure innocent friendship to a major crush.
One day, when the two hung out after school, they made a promise to get married once they were old enough.
And Chan was here to make sure that the promise was kept.
"You're crazy, we were kids!" Chaerin yelled, looking at him in disbelief.
"I never stopped loving you." Chan breathed, placing kisses on Chaerin's temple "You can't just break promises, we are meant to be!" His index finger traced circles on her collarbone, slowly making it's way down.
But before Chan reached his goal, the wooden door flew open with a loud bang.
"What the fuck..." Chan straightened up.
A bunch of men started fighting against Chan's people, causing a major chaos. Chaerin tried to cover her eyes, not getting a good view due to the many men.
"Chaerin" Seungcheol kneeled down to her, taking in her sight before he began untying her. His hands cupped her face, trying to make sure that she wasn't hurt.
"Where is he?" Chaerin asked, referring to Chan.
Seungcheol on the other hand, didn't answer and just escorted her right out of the chaos. His grip on her hand was tight, as if he was scared to lose her again.
"Where is Mingyu?" Chaerin asked, following Seungcheol quickly.
By the mention of his name, Seungcheol clenched his jaw. His mind went red, knowing that Mingyu didn't had good intentions.
"He's off the plan, can't trust him. " Seungcheol said, escorting Chaerin out of the building and into the black SUV. Her heart was beating fast as she fasten her seatbelt and leaned back, pushing the black strands out of her face.
The ride was weird, a uncomfortable silence taking in the atmosphere of the entire car.
Chaerin and Seungcheol got out of the car at a hotel, a few miles away from Seoul. As the walked past the receptionist, Seungcheol just gave him a sign followed by a nod as the answer from a receptionist.
As they reached the hotel room, the door falling into its lock and a feeling of safety filling their body, Chaerin let herself fall onto the bed.
She tried to realize what just happened, not knowing whether to cal her dad or not.
"Seungcheol." She called out for him, looking into the direction of the bathroom. As Chaerin didn't get an answer, she began walking towards the room, taking off the vest while walking.
Seungcheol was propping himself up on the sink, his hair falling down into his face, making it unable to see his expression. His shirt was on the floor, his torso covered with bruises.
"What happened to you?" She carefully touched his bruises, being immediately stopped by his grip on her wrist.
"Mingyu happened." He just said, walking past her out of the bathroom.
Chaerin's brow was furrowed "Mingyu?" she began following him, demanding an answer.
"He was helping the japanese, plotting against us the entire time." Seungcheol said, sitting down on the bed, looking at her with tired eyes.
Chaerin's eyes widened, her look of disappointment and disbelief was laying heavily on Seungcheol "I can't believe this."
"I told you not to trust him, he wasn't up to good the second he saw you." He sighed.
Chaerin's hands were now on her hip, furrowing her brows as she looked at him with a angry gaze: "You told me? Are you saying this is my fault now?"
"I am not saying this is your fault, Chaerin." He said, not looking at her.
A laugh escaped her lips, a ironic one "Your implying it by saying that you told me."
"I'm implying that you should've listened to me instead of making your own stupid choices."
Chaerin walked closer towards Seungcheol "Stupid choices?"
"Yes." Seungcheol got up, shortening the distance between them "You're stupid choices like not trusting someone who's more experienced than you."
Her eyes were darted towards him "Have I not trusted you enough?"
Seungcheol grinned "Sex is not included, Chaerin."
All of her vocabulary seemed to disappear by the second, trying to find the right words.
"Fuck you." she spat, turning around to walk away. But before she could do that, Seungcheol grabbed her by the wrist and spun her back, pushing her body against the wall. His arms were both propped on the wall, trapping her head so that she had to look at him.
"I came to save you, be a little thankful." He whispered, his eyes lingering on her pale lips.
"You didnt have to."
Seungcheol looked up, his eyes seemed to be filled with tears "I had to, I was too scared to find you dead."
Before Seungcheol could open his mouth to express more feelings, Chaerin closed the distance by pressing her lips onto his.
