Chapter 56:- NEGATIVE INFINITY IQ

     "Why are you here?" Logan asked as he sized her up. She was in a tight red dress, and heels as high as her stupidity.
     "I came to say hello to grandma and I've been trying to reach you but it says it's switched off and goes straight to voicemail" she explained with a smile then walked past Evelyn to go greet the Old Woman.
     "Grandma I'm back. How have you been?"she asked holding the thighs of the Old Woman to show her respect.
     "Little girl it's good to have you here. Don't bend for long, seat down so you don't suffer a relapse" she said in a caring tone.
     "Thank you grandma. I bought gifts from abroad that you'll like very much"she said and several men came in with different sizes of wrapped items.
     "That's so kind of you"the Old Woman said with her endearing smile. She is the Old Madame of the Smith Family of course she doesn't have wrinkles.
     "Grandma, who bought this?. The person has taste but it looks quite cheap" Clara said referring to Evelyn's gifts.
     "Thank you for the compliment Miss Clara,but I'm pretty sure you lack tge discerning mind to tell apart a diamond in the rough. It may look cheap, but it's worth more" Evelyn said and Clara finally turned to look at her.
     "You bought this?, what did I expect, you can't afford expensive items" she mocked but Evelyn maintained a calm attitude.
     "Clara you're here to see my grandmother not make trouble. You shouldn't ridicule someone's goodwill" Logan scolded her in an harsh tone as if frustrated about her arrival.
     "Brother Logan I didn't mean it that way actually. I just thought the items looked cheap and it's like an insult to grandma" she tried to justify her actions.
     "Little girl you thought wrong, grandma actually appreciates little White's effort and i love the gift. You see I love two things in this life more than my grandson. Tea and calligraphy and Little White was thoughtful enough to buy it" the Old Woman explained and Clara's face turned a little sour.
     "Oh, I misunderstood. If grandma likes her gifts then fine. But you'll love mine better"Clara boasted and one by one her gifts were unwrapped.
     Inside were designer bags, priceless jewelleries, custom made high end dresses some paintings done by Shine himself or herself. .
     It was a good show of wealth and power, made to clearly oppress other's gifts and intentions.
     "Quite impressive" Evelyn praised sacrasticaly as Clara flashed her a proud look.
     The most valuable of the gifts was the painting by Shine. An unknown American painter who's works are as priceless as mountain filled with diamonds.
     Shine is the number one artist sought after by many people. His works were otherworldly like it was alive.
    The painting here was of a young girl sitting in the rain with her luggage beside her.
     The emotion on the girl's face was captured. Her look of helplessness, anger, sadness and perseverance was load out. The night sky was wonderful and the rain that fell was so real you can already envision the waster flowing from the painting to your floor like it is actually raining.
     The artwork was named 'A NIGHT TO REMEMBER' and it won so many awards it was made the logo of some people's company.
     Evelyn heard it was auctioned last week at Country F. If she remembered clearly, Clara stayed in Country C all this time. How did she have the time to go to Country F and partake in the auction.
     Logan has the same thought as he stared at the painting his grandmother was admiring but actually, the three people in the room were doubting if the painting is s actually real.
     Evelyn looked at her phone and it said the artwork was auctioned at the price of a billion dollars to an unknown buyer.
    She isn't doubting the power of the Voyant Family but one billion dollars?, something is definitely wrong.
     "Would you mind if I take a look at that painting?"she asked and stood up.
     Logan sat quietly preferring to observe as it is known that it's considered wise to be slow to speak but swift to listen.
     "Why?, is it because you haven't seen something like this before. If you don't know it was bought for a billion dollars don't ruin it" Clara taunted but the latter ignored her, having only her eyes glued to the painting in the Old Woman's hands.
     "Little White is everything okay?" The Old Woman asked with a frown seeing the car off look of Evelyn as she gazes at the painting.
     When Evelyn got there, she smirked ridicule dancing inger eyes as she stared at the signature of the painting.
     The signature alone proves that it's a fake because this isn't her signature. The star wasn't copied to perfection but of course only the artist herself would notice that little error.
     "What?, shocked by the painting?. It's understandable, you haven't seen something this expensive"she continued obviously disregarding the latter's disinterest and the earlier warning in the hospital room.
     "I'm not shocked because of it's price I'm shocked by your stupidity. If you know nothing about Shine's work, don't bother purchasing his artwork. I mean only an idiot who's trying to impress others with no reliable information will believe this is the real work and not a fake" Evelyn said and Clara's face changed drastically.
     'A fake?. Ha! What does this little wrench know about Shine's artwork, it's obvious she's pretending' Clara thought as she smiled mockingly at her.
   "It's one thing to be jealous of me, it's another to slander me and Shine. How could you say his artwork his fake?. You had better take it back and apologise if not, it won't be over till we settle it in court " C Kara said with a look that showed she was greatly offended .
    "Do I look that jobless to try to slander you?, it's a waste of time I'm too busy" Evelyn directly shunned her away causing her face to redden in embarrassment as she was aware Logan was watching.
     "Don't try to cover up. I may love to shop but I'll never buy your bull. It's not fake you're just jealous" Clara insisted but deep down she wasn't sure either, she knows nothing about artwork.
     "Sigh!. Stupidity isn't a crime, you're free to go" Evelyn said feigning a sad look.
     "You..... Stop with this nonsense it's not fake. You're trying to make me look stupid Infront of grandma right?. This is your plan all along. Aish! You're incredibly cunning and calculating" Clara said with her usual proud demeanour and Evelyn replied with her usual cool but icy voice.
     "I don't need to try to make you look stupid, every action of yours already portray your IQ, which I most say by the way it's a negative infinity" Evelyn told her and anger flashed in her eyes.
     "Brother Logan how can you seat and allow her talk to me like this?"she changed tactics. Logan is her fiance of course he as to side with her.
     "I don't interfere in unreasonable arguements. Evelyn if you feel it's fake show us your proof and if you are confident it is original seat back and watch. Only guilty people are agitated when one speaks the truth. If you  are confident in your words, seat back and watch the other showcase their stupidity " Logan simply said and Evelyn smirked.
       She understood what he was doing. He is indirectly supporting her and telling her to prove that Clara is really stupid.
      Since he asked so nicely and she's so desperate,she would gladly showcase her negative infinity IQ
