In Jen's Workshop, the female god was stood over Ken's staff, visor covering her face as she held a blowtorch to the point of the staff. And hovering over her was Ken, out of armour as he paced back and forth, his eyes never leaving his daughter as she worked. Jen turned the blowtorch off, pulling her visor up. "How much longer?" Ken asked impatiently. "Dude, I am smithing something that has never existed before. Chill." Jen told her father, pulling the visor off her head, fed up with his constant questions and looming glares as she worked.

"Your skills are needed, daughter, but they don't require your tongue. If you'd prefer I returned you to your prison or forced you to fashion a more painful one..." Ken spoke, a threatening tone heard clearly in his voice. Jen sighed, her expression downcast and defeated. "I did what you asked. Now let me go." She told her father, her voice weak and quiet. Ken didn't hesitate to grab his staff. "I look forward to the day I no longer need to see your shameful face. But you will go nowhere until this weapon is proven." Ken told his daughter.

"God magic plus Red Oak ash equals a lethal combo for the Tribrid. If you can stick it in her heart, that is." Jen told him. Ken just stared at his daughter, bringing the blade of his staff to her neck. "If you are lying to me again, pray to some other god." Ken spat. "I wouldn't bother." A voice spoke. Ken, pulling the blade from Jen's neck, turned to see Hope stood behind him. "In my limited experience with them, gods tend to suck." Hope spoke. "This is unexpected." Ken said, mildly surprised as he turned fully to face Hope.

"Why? You told Cleo that only one person had to die. Me. So I have come to accept your terms." Hope told him. "Self-sacrifice? How... disappointing." Ken said as Jen peaked her head out from behind Ken, trying to watch the interaction. "Actually, I've come to challenge you according to the Old Ways. Single combat. You and me." Hope told him. "I take it my bastard son
informed you of our customs?" Ken asked. "Yeah. He also said that once a challenge is issued it can't be refused. Shall we say two hours from now, at the school?" Hope said.

"I accept." Ken told her, the grip on his staff tightening. "But why wait?" He asked before throwing his staff towards her. Hope watched the staff hurtle towards her before looking down as it passed straight through her, embedding itself in the wall behind her. "Sweet move, dude." Jen complimented. "Thanks." Hope responded before smiling patronisingly. "I figured you'd try something shady, so... hence the astral projection. See you on the battlefield." Hope told Ken before disappearing.

In her room at the boarding school, Hope opened her eyes, Aaron stood behind her with Alaric sat beside him. "How did it go?" Alaric asked as Hope stood up, turning to face the two. "He took the bait." She answered causing Aaron to smirk. "Let's go to war then." He declared.
