And darlin', this is more than anything I felt before
You're everything that I want, but I didn't think I'd find

"Finish that, princess," Mr. Somani scolded my wife, who was barely eating and taking her time with each bite.

"Why are you shouting, Dad?" my Lili pouted at her father.

"And what's with this side?" Mr. Somani asked, noticing she'd pushed her green vegetables to the edge of her plate.

"I’ll eat that later," she replied, trying to dodge his stern gaze.

"Hmm, I have my eye on you. And if you don’t finish, I’m taking you to India for a month, where your grandmother will make sure you eat everything," he said. I almost choked on my food. There was no way I was letting my Lili go anywhere.

"She’ll eat," I said, picking up the green vegetables with my spoon and feeding them to her myself.

"You should bring Janhvi with you next time," Dad suggested, referring to my mother-in-law.

“Esha has exams, so I can’t leave her alone," Mr. Somani replied.

"We should all go to India sometime. I’m sure Ahvi misses her family," my dad added, making my heart sink.

"Yes, but let’s wait until she graduates," Mr. Somani said, giving me a sense of relief.

It's been two days since Mr. Somani arrived, and while it’s nice to see him and watch him care for Ahvi, it's disrupted our privacy. My mom rarely leaves her side, and by the time I return from work, the house is already bustling with people. Mom cooks, we all eat, and then Lili goes straight to bed.

It's not that I don’t appreciate my parents being around; I do. But I miss having private moments with Lili.

“Dada, I’ll make your favorite dessert tomorrow,” Lili said, her voice sweet and hopeful.

“Princess, I have an early flight tomorrow. I need to go," he replied, and I couldn’t help but feel a bit relieved.

"But it’s only been two days, Dad!" Lili pouted, her disappointment clear.

"We have business, princess. I promise I’ll come back soon, and next time, I’ll bring Esha and your mom," he said, trying to reassure her. She nodded, but I could see the sadness in her eyes.
