A man just in the threshold of the adobe house. The isle of houses were all empty; the man was laying there with rotted skin and flies buzzing on top of his body. The fly lands on top of the bone which was revealed by the large missing parts of his arm and torso, his forearm and torso all devoid of all skin and muscle, having been cleanly cut through and now the man is laying there on the side of the house begging for help. He was hairy and stinked and he had no clothes on but he begged for help or someone to go save him.
The sound of footsteps in the sand approaches, Brick appearing as he walks towards the house. He stops in front of the house, seeing the man missing his flesh. Brick turns to the man for a second, "Help me." He manages to softly say, with desperation in his voice and eyes as he tries to reach out to Brick. He steps closer, going closer and closer towards the house. He opens the door and inside he sees the brown wooden floor and the singular yellow light over the dining table with a red carpet right under the table. His nostrils are filled by the smell of the man and disgusting smell makes him nearly vomit. But as Brick looks around he sees on the dining table are cleanly cut slabs of flesh which looked like tri tip all stacked on one another, and a man sitting on the table as he gnaws on the brown flesh. He turns over to Brick, and Brick walks right out completely ignoring the cannibalism he had seen.
He walks down the streets now that we're bustling and filled with people. He walked down that same path he had gone down as yesterday, looking around seeing the same stands and the exact same people who were selling all sorts of items. A woman on the side of the street yells out at him, covering herself just barely with a blanket, "You! Handsome!" Brick turns to the woman, she covers herself up and her cheeks are red and she is naked under the blanket. She sways around with every small movement being exaggerated and she slurs her words, "Come on! Only a bit and I can give you a nice ol' happy ending!" She laughs and Brick turns away, "Wait! Wait! I'll do it for free! Even for free!"
He payed no attention to her and walks away, ending up back at that same bar all over again. He sits down at the same chair and it looks to be exactly how it was before. Next to him was the empty chair and a man comes over and sits down at the chair. The man had a large cigar and he puffs out the smoke. He wore a hat and a coat with a tie with his clothes rugged and he smelled of dirt, "What's your name?" Brick stayed silent, until the man grabbed his shoulder, "Who are you?" He shook Brick gently.
"Brick." He states.
"Well than, why didn't you want to tell me earlier?" He stayed silent. The man takes his cigar into his mouth and again puffs out the smoke, he grabs the small shot glass from the man next to him. The man was looking away and distracted as he grabbed the small shot, he drinks it all instantly, "Where you from?"
"Somewhere out." The man looked slightly confused, stopping for a moment. He flips the glass upside down as it is devoid of all its contents.
"What is it?" Brick asked.
"An upside down bottle is reserved for the dead."
"Who died?"
"It's someone I knew well." He sticks out his hand, "Zio." Brick doesn't shake his hand and remains not reacting to Zio, "Well than, I guess you're not much of a talker are you?"
"Sometimes I'd rather not talk."
The door of the bar is slammed open, fathering the attention of them all, "Let's go!" The child that was shouldn't the cigarette said as him and those who were around him all followed the child out of the barn.
At the bar entrance was three men all of which armed like cowboys of the wild West and they had long mustaches and shining leather clothes. One of them held up a shining metal revolver which was loaded and he points towards Brick. The revolver fires at Brick, he ducks down and the bullet impacts against the glass bottles filled with alcohol and the liquor spills on the floor as there's hole made through the glass and onto the cabinet they were in.
