Saad had been dreading the gala from the moment he was invited. The second he was made aware of it, he wanted nothing more than to not attend. He hated these events, they were an excuse to show off and brag about nonsense in front of your colleagues loved ones. And, he dreaded it because Ranya actually agreed to come.

He had gotten used to acting a certain way at home. It wasn't far from what he had been like the first couple of days, distant and cold, but the fact that the couple would be going from silence between them at home, to acting as if they're in their honeymoon phase before his colleagues, seemed almost impossible to execute.

He had texted Ranya with the details, asking her to be ready a bit earlier than usual. The dress code was much fancier than the business attire they usually wore, and most of the women would be wearing longer dresses, as if this was prom.

"Ready?" Saad asked, looking over at Ranya as they parked before the hall.

It was large, and one of the higher end halls in the city, where most events were held by the richest of the rich. It was fitting since that was what most of these lawyers were.

Nodding, Ranya took a look at herself in her phone, hoping she could fit right in. She wasn't excited for this in the slightest either, regretting the fact that she had agreed.

It wasn't just the fact that she didn't want to be forced to interact with pompous, self serving and self obsessed people, but she did not want to see Sana. She didn't want to have to remember what she looked like, and suddenly began imagining her with Saad against her will.

Getting the door for her, Saad held his had out for her since he knew her dress could make her trip. Dawning a maroon, floor length flowy dress, she could make heads turn. And she had when Saad first saw her.

He didn't know what to expect, other than the fact that he'd likely be mind blown like he usually is with her. But he wasn't expecting this at all. She looked breath taking, maybe it was the colour against her skin, the fit of the dress, or the fact that he hadn't actually really seen her in some time. Whatever it was, his eyes had nearly popped out of his head when she stepped down the stairs.

Even now, he could feel his heart racing as he held her hand whilst they strolled into the hall. Any glance towards her, especially those of men, creating a burning jealousy in him he hadn't known existed. Gripping her hand, as if she would be taken away, he led her towards the main area, where most people had been seated.

"What is this for again?" Ranya asked, trying to keep the sound of her voice down incase somebody else heard.

Unable to catch what she had said, Saad furrowed his brows, leaning his head down so she could tell him closer to his ear. His scent overtaking Ranya's senses, she even felt her heart flutter at the action. Repeating herself, she bit back a reaction when he turned to her.

"I'm going to be honest, I don't really know."

"Oh?" Ranya let out a soft laugh, pushing her curls to the side. It was strange, spending her time at home ignoring him. Holding herself back from admiring him, even when she really just wanted to stare. She was still upset, but the anger had mellowed somewhat and turned into hurt, rather than this burning passionate hatred towards him. There were days when she really just wanted to go off on him, tell him everything he's ever done to hurt her. Other days, she figured it was better to just move forward with life.

Today was one of the days where she didn't exactly hate him, she didn't like him a whole lot though. It was hard to hate him, especially when he looked as nice as he did. He wore a long black overcoat that just brushed past his knees, wearing a suit that matched underneath it. He had brushed his hair back ever so slightly, a strand or two falling in front of his eyes. And he wasn't wearing his glasses, though she loved them, there was something about being able to see his eyes that made her heart rate spike.
