Tired after her failed attempt at reconciliation the other day, Sana continued to wonder what could possibly fix her mistake and make Saad like her again. If not like then just tolerate. She figured he would eventually get over it if she put in enough effort, after all they had some history together.
"Hey Saad." Sana smiled, dropping a load of books and taking a seat beside him at the table of their current study spot.
Saad looked over to the side, giving her a short momentary glance before turning back to his work, "Hi Sana."
"What are you working on?" She asked, hoping to talk her way into a friendship, that could maybe become something else. It had been weeks since she had first seen him, and luckily for her, her friend happened to be friends with his.
"Statistics." Saad replied, going through the notes he found online hoping they could help boost his grade. Saad hoped he could get a better grip of the content, but it seemed there wasn't a corner of the university he could find solace in that Sana wasn't aware of.
Somehow unable to notice his indifference to her presence, Sana kept going, realizing she may have found her opening. "I took it last semester, it was pretty easy- if you want some help I can give you my notes." She beamed, thinking that she could tutor her way into his heart.
"I already have the notes but thanks. If I have some questions I'll ask you."
This was one of their initial meetings, where Sana did anything she could to get close to him. But every attempt seemed to fail. He never did ask her those questions, or any really.
Sighing at the memory, she paced around her office, wondering what she could do to change him. He had always been like this. Aloof and short with everyone, but when he was mad, it was much worse. She had seen him treat people who crossed him like this, but she never thought she'd be on the receiving end.
After spending more time thinking about Saad and her predicament, Sana finally had an epiphany. She had been going about this all wrong. She didn't have to throw herself at him for him to forgive her, but if she could just create a rift between Saad and Ranya, then it would be a lot easier. Now that he was married, he was probably used to a female presence aside from his female relatives, and Sana could be that presence.
Grinning to herself, she quickly found herself writing up an introductory message to Salman. She wasn't stupid, so she didn't message him anything strange and simply just asked if it was indeed Salman she was speaking too. Then she just had to wait.
Salman, on the other side of the world was completely unaware of what had been going on behind his back. Except it wasn't really behind his back since everyone tried to tell him, but he decided he'd rather change his number, and move across the world, cutting off his family for a while. All because he got cold feet.
He really did love Ranya, as hard as that was to believe. He wanted a life with her, but he also wanted to live his life before being tied down to anyone. Before having another person, and possibly other people to be responsible for. It was a lot to come to terms with. He also didn't know how he would convince her to move to another continent because of a job offer. He couldn't do that to her, but he could leave her.
Still, strange as it may seem, he felt like he had a perfectly good chance to get back with her. He knew what would happen if he left. Ranya would sulk for a couple of days, and eventually move on with life. Not with another guy. He knew after the stunt he had pulled that the chances of her getting married to someone else were slim to none, and he was willing to take those odds head on. He figured he could go back in a couple of months, apologize and show her with some big gesture that he loved her, and that she would just fold.
