Days had passed and Ranyas mind was still lingering on Sana. She knew it was stupid, and plain old insecurity to some extent- but she also knew the woman was not approaching neither her nor Saad with kind intentions.
She knew that in the end it shouldn't matter, after all, she's the one married to Saad, not Sana. And Saad has made it clear many times that he intends on fulfilling his role as a husband to her, so she's almost confident that he wouldn't leave. But with the Abbas brothers, you never really know. It still bothered her that he saw her as a responsibility rather than a relationship, but figured it was time to move on.
The gloomy weather wasn't really helping her though. The soft pitter patter of rain colliding with her window, the eerie breeze only worsened her racing thoughts. Mindlessly, she stared at her phone, doomscrolling through different apps in an attempt to find another topic to think of.
It was her latest problem. Ever since classes ended, it had become an awful habit. Killing time using her phone, but doing so mindlessly. She knew she had plans to make, especially since there had been chances to the curriculum, but she felt too tired to want to do anything during the break so far.
Her head hurting, her eyes feeling as if they'd pop out of her head, she threw her phone to the side laying flat in her back and rubbed her forehead and closed her eyes to get rid of the feeling. Looking over at the clock by her bed, she quickly sat up, realising it was already 5pm, and she had done nothing so far besides stay tucked away in her room.
There were a lot it things she hated about Saad, but his work ethic wasn't one of them. Even during his time home, he was always working. And though it irritated her to see him pay more attention to his work than her, it was a quality she wished she had.
"He probably doesn't even think about me" she told herself, shaking her head in disappointment at the notion that she wasted her day with thoughts surrounding him, while he definitely did not do the same.
Slumped at the end of the bed, she finally decided to venture out and perhaps make a meal for her and Saad since it was close to their usual dinner time.
Saad on the other hand was busy working away, trying to complete as much work as he possibly could given the fact that he felt like it may be his last day on earth. He had gotten up that morning as always, extremely early, and began to work on his latest case. It was a long one, and he had already pulled many all nighters just to make up for the times he was doing something else, always with Ranya.
His throat feeling dry, with a lump that wouldn't go away, and his head banging in pain, he had decided to head back to his room and take a nap. He'd rather be a bit behind in work than worsen the case he had been working on, or even let it be below the standard he had set for himself.
Ranya, unbeknownst to all of this, finished preparing their dinner. Since it was a cold and gloomy day, she felt like making some soup along side some rice- as always for her. Like tradition dictated, she made her way towards his office, lightly knocking on the door.
Waiting for a moment, she knocked again, thinking perhaps her previous knocks had been more delicate. Trying one last time, confused, she opened the door, unable to hear a single sound. And to her surprise, he wasn't at his desk. His laptop was wide open, papers sprawled across his desk, and a notebook with scribbles and unintelligible notes he had written for himself.
Heading back to the kitchen, she made her way to the foyer just to make sure his car was parked outside their garage. Knowing him, maybe he had left for another meeting? But seeing as his car was still there, looking as if it hadn't been touched all day, Ranya made her way towards his room.
It had been quite some time since she last tread this path, specifically their wedding night, when she had to embarrassingly trod her way to his doors in hopes that he could help her undress. The recollection made her cringe, a shiver shooting down her spine as she stood at his door.
