As soon as Hao settles in the quiet of the car, the tears he had tried to suppress start to fall. His manager is sitting next to him, resting his hand on Hao's knee in a comforting gesture but quietly giving him time to sort through his emotions.
One of the bodyguards had taken over the driver role and soon they drive off, leaving the park behind.
"Are you okay?", the man sitting next to him, asks after a while.
"No, I'm not, how could I be right now? But I know that I will be fine eventually. This may sound weird but the thing I feel the most is relief, I don't regret having done this, I needed this", he answers honestly.
"I'm proud of you for having the courage to let go, I know it can't be easy."
"It definitely isn't", he agrees. "I once thought family was something you were born into, but I've learned it's also the people who choose to stay by your side, even when they don't have to. Losing my family taught me that home is where care and affection is freely given."
"Thinking about someone specific?", his manager asks with a playful wink, obviously trying to cheer him up.
It works like magic, thinking about the one person that manages to comfort him, when the world is at its darkest, brings a careful smile to his face. "I should probably stop ignoring him, right?"
"He is probably worried sick by now, so yes!", his manager smiles back.
"And just so you know, I didn't only think of him, You, Miss and Mister Hwang, my juniors, I realised I haven't felt lonely in quite a while and that is what's most important isn't it?" It's the truth, Hanbin may have been the first person to appear in his mind, but he feels immensely grateful for all the people he has gathered in his life.
"It is. I'm so glad to hear you say this. I hope you mean it. By the way if you prefer to rest instead of doing your schedules, I'm sure something could be arranged, maybe we can even push back the fan meeting a few days."
"Yah! This isn't only about me, how can you say that? Think of all the fans that made arrangements, traveled to see me. We're not changing anything in the fan meeting's schedules. No matter how hard they tried, I never brought my fans into the mess my family created, I most certainly do not intend on starting now."
"Good, you're right, we won't let their insanity, bring misery to anyone else. I did call off the rest of today's schedules tho, it was only a photoshoot and one last rehearsal, which was unnecessary anyway. You and the dancers have already rehearsed more than enough and there is still the soundcheck tomorrow afternoon before the concert."
"Thank you. I guess resting a bit, isn't a terrible idea. I don't feel like being alone though. I wish Hanbin was here." The last part was meant to remain a thought but it somehow slipped out.
The manager just chuckles. "You should really call him, after you're done we could go walk around a bit, you could shop for a gift for him and maybe later we could go get some dinner. You lived here before there must be good places you can recommend. Let's try to live like normal people only for the rest of the day. I think it would do us some good."
