I'm back ! Sorry it took so long.  I'll have to stick to updating only once a week as I'm still very busy with work and university. But I'll try my best to not take any breaks anymore <3

As he leaves the restaurant, Hao almost feels dizzy from happiness. He hasn't felt so good in a really long time. He constantly has a wide grin plastered across his face. He keeps looking at the contact list in his phone which considerably grew in the span of the past few weeks. Looking at the names of the people he recently encountered which all have become so dear to him, he thinks that his luck has finally turned. This thought only intensifies as he keeps staring at the most recently added contact of Sung Hanbin. Still being lost in thought, he patiently waits for the taxi he called because he didn't want to bother his manager. His bubble suddenly bursts as he suddenly gets shoved towards the dark narrow ally between the two buildings on his left side.

He is forcefully pushed against the wall behind him, causing him to feel pain in his back. He can't help but shake in fear as he recognises the man in front of him. The older man seems to want to murder him, glaring at him with so much hatred in his eyes. Hao lets out a tiny scream as he gets punched in the stomach, pain spreading across his whole body. The man keeps beating him and Hao can do nothing but to cry out every time he gets hit, as he doesn't nearly have enough strength to fight of the furious man. He eventually drops to the floor after a really strong punch that knocks the air right out of him. After falling, he can vaguely feel his arm hurting and he just prays for the moment to be finally over. His mind grows dark as he feels close to passing out, his vision has become blurry from the tears that keep rolling down his face.

Just as sudden and quickly as it started everything stops. Hao is in so much pain he is unable to move, he can't do anything but lay there heavily breathing. He tries to see what happened but his vision is still too blurry. In that moment he hears an agitated voice right in front of him. "What do you think you're doing! Leave him alone!" He immediately recognises who the voice belongs to and the panic in him multiplies.

"Who are you!" The man yells "Wait I recognise you from somewhere."

"I already called the police, they'll be here any minute" Hanbin replies calmly.

"This isn't over." the man says and everything becomes quiet.

"Hao? Hao? Please answer me..." Hanbin's voice shakes as he squats down next to him.

"Hanbin..." is all he brings out.

"Everything is going to be fine, help is on the way, please hold on a bit longer." Hanbin's voice is still shaking. That's when everything around Hao becomes dark.

When Hao wakes up, he still feels panicked and everything hurts. He notices that he is laying in a hospital room, his hand is tightly being squeezed. His eyes slowly adjust to the dark and he can see a sleeping Hanbin sitting on a chair besides his hospital bed while still holding his hand. His other arm hurts and is wrapped in a cast. Hao doesn't want to wake up the sleeping boy, so as careful as he can he tries to get in a more comfortable position, his head still spins. Every tiny movement hurts , so he fails at being discrete as he lets out a tiny squeal because of the pain. The other boy's eyes immediately fly open. Hao can see that the other must have cried because his eyes are still red. He tries to reassure the other with a soft squeeze of his hand.

"I'm fine, don't worry. I'm okay" His voice breaks in the middle of the sentence.

"I was so scared when you passed out. I didn't know what to do. You were covered in blood, I.." Hanbin's voice also breaks.

"It's okay, I'll be okay. It doesn't hurt that bad. Everything is going to be fine." Hao tries to calm both of their minds.

"Who is that man? how do you know him? Why does he want to hurt you?" Hao knows Hanbin deserves an explanation but he definitely isn't in the state of getting into what happened. He definitely isn't stable enough to talk about this right now.

"Did he hurt you too?" He scans the other boy, internally dying at the idea that Hanbin may also have gotten beaten.Hanbin seems to take the hint, that Hao can't talk about it.

Hanbin lets out a sigh. "No I didn't get hurt. He left immediately after I pushed him away. I wish I would have been there sooner. I'm sorry I was so late."

Hao still feels dizzy, Hanbin's everlasting grip on his hand is what keeps him grounded. "Thank you for saving me, I'm sorry too. I never wanted you to get dragged into this."Tears are starting to fall from his eyes. "I don't think I could live with myself if you got hurt because of me."

Hanbin also can't hold back his tears anymore. "I don't know why bad things keep happening to you. I would gladly take some of the pain if it means you are finally safe. I never hated anything more than this, seeing you being in pain."

Hao doesn't have time to interject as Hanbin continues his monologue quickly wiping away his own tears with his sweatshirt."You didn't deserve any of this. It's not your fault. It's so unfair that these things happen to you, when you're the kind, amazing, talented person that you are." Hanbin's voice softens. "You should rest , it's the middle of the night."

Hao suddenly feels even worse. "Oh , right... You should go home too, you must be exhausted, it's uncomfortable here"

Hanbin immediately interrupts him. "Not a chance I'm staying right here with you. I ain't going anywhere."

Hao can't even pretend to be annoyed at Hanbin's persistence as he feels way too relieved not having to be alone.

He doesn't get to reply as Hanbin stands up and sits on the bed next to him pulling him into his side. The bed is technically too small for two people but they don't mind, their bodies pressing against each other. Hanbin gently puts his arms around Hao, careful not to hurt him and whispers. "It's okay you don't have to be scared anymore. I'll protect you from now on. Nothing like this will happen again."

Soon after they both fall asleep feeling secure in each other's presence.
