Time
I finished wiping down the island with Clorox wipes and finishing cleaning my new home. The living area was lightly furnished with just a plush light grey corduroy sofa, a 60-inch TV, a glass coffee table, a white cotton rug, and bar stools for the island. I was so grateful for all the support I've gotten so far from Charlie, Goldie, Divine, Fran, and Annika. They all contributed to housewarming gifts for my new place and helped in every way they could.
I don't know what I did to deserve all of this love.
Annika and I sat on the couch catching up as Divine and Tron mounted the TV.
"Girl, your little bump is so cute!" Annika rubbed the bottom of my stomach peeking through my tight white tank top. I smiled, "Thank you, I'm really starting to feel pregnant now."
At 16 weeks, and the beginning of my second trimester, my bump was still small, but at the same time a lot more present. I even started to feel more pressure, random food cravings started to increase, and specific smells like lavender, onion, and laundry detergent gave me headaches and made me gag. I can only keep tangerines and pancakes down lately.
The babies hate meat.
I also noticed my small B-cup breasts started to get a little larger.
"I can't wait until they get here, I'm about to spoil them to death." Annika shook her head.
"When are you and Tron going to have kids?" I jokingly whispered.
Annika scrunched up her face, "Never."
"Annika, stop acting like you don't like that man," I whispered again looking over at Tron and making sure he couldn't hear us. He was too busy cackling with Divine and bumping his head to the blaring trap music from my speaker.
"Girl, I don't like that he hid that he had a kid from me." She expressed, "Plus, I ain't trying to be nobody's stepmama at this age. The only thing we even have in common is sex, so we can keep it like that."
I didn't know if I believed her or not, her tone seemed like she was trying to convince herself more than me.
I nodded, "Understandable." I rested my head on the back of the sofa.
"When you gone stop acting like you don't want Divine back," Annika asked with a raised eyebrow.
I sighed, "Annika, please."
"I'm just saying." She raised her hands in surrender, "He loves you, girl."
"I love him too, but I have to focus on myself right now," I whispered back lowly.
"Have you heard from your mom?" She asked.
"Nope." I crossed my arms, "She hasn't checked up on me or the babies. Didn't even bother to ask where I was laying my head all this time."
As the days passed I stopped grieving the relationship with my mom, I found a new family and I was content with that.
Annika shook her head, "Damn, I'm sorry girl. I know that's got to hurt you."
I waved her off, "I'm not worried about it. She's purposefully missing out on her daughter's and grandkids' lives. That's her weight to carry not mine."
"You're so strong, Time." Annika planted her hand on my back and rubbed it. "You my girl I'm here for whatever you need."
I smirked, "Thank you."
"Alright, TV is mounted. Where my bread?" Tron came up to us with his hand out.
I was surprised he was speaking to me, "Will a thank you suffice?" I asked joking back.
