TimeI held Presley into my arms tickling her tummy and smiling at her screeching laughter. Her chubby cheeks blushed with light red as she gave a gummy wide smile.
Francesca arrived in the living area with a cup of coffee and low eyes. I watched as she sat next to us giving her first small smile since the kidnapping. I looked over at her and wanted to ask if she was okay, but could clearly see she was not.
Her curly hair was more defined since she'd showered, her skin had a moisturized glow and it looked like she was feeling better from her headache yesterday.
But you could tell from the inside she was still injured
"Are you going to see your son today?" I asked,
She gave a slow nod, "Yeah, I am." I rubbed her arm and gave a little reassuring smirk, that everything was going to be okay, without speaking. She loved over at me and gave me a nod in response as if she understood.
Divine came out of the hallway shirtless rubbing his abs. Since our little argument last night, I felt uneasy. I love him so much, but with us clashing a lot lately, I worried that us starting this relationship was too early and too fast.
That comment he made about my privileges and silver spoon let me know how low he can go when he is upset, and that worried me. That he wouldn't be able to properly communicate without saying hurtful things or yelling.
I know he doesn't mean to hurt me, but sometimes, I don't particularly like how he talks to me when we disagree.
This is something I knew from the beginning, but I wanted us to at least give this a chance. I didn't want to let what-ifs get in the way of a good thing, but it looks like the inevitable is showing its face. For reality to be hitting the way it is right now was a disappointment. But I won't give up on him, I won't give up on us.
"Yall ain't cook nothing?" He complained, I smacked my teeth at him annoyed at the question given the circumstances.
"I'm actually about to get my son. Is it okay, if we come back here? Just until-" Francesca started to explain her situation and Divine cut her off.
"Nah, you good. Stay here as long as you need. You and little man." Divine told her with furrowed eyebrows.
She nodded "Thank you." and took a sip of her coffee, I got up and used this as a cue to get ready for work. "I have to go to, I have to get some hours in at the office."
Divine nodded as I walked over to him, I wrapped my arms around his neck and gave him a peck.
"You still coming to the party tonight?" He asked with his lips slightly brushing mine.
I nodded, hesitantly. It felt wrong to go out and party while Francesca was in this state, but at the same time, a distraction from this sad situation could be helpful too.
He smirked and told me he loved me before I exited his apartment.
On the way home I felt my mood shift. I started to oddly, miss my mother. As dysfunctional as our relationship is I felt myself yearning for her presence. With my father being gone, all I have is her. She is the only parent I have left and I hated how estranged we were.
But the way she shuts me out emotionally when I don't live the way she wants me to live. Hurts me. To the point, where I start to shut her out too, for my peace of mind. Ever since I told her I wasn't moving back to Georgia and she found out about me and Divine, she's been colder than usual.
And it just bothers me that she won't choose a relationship with her only child over her ego.
Once at my apartment, I sighed a sigh of relief seeing my own living room, kitchen, and my friend Annika. Sometimes, being home is healing.
