**** Derek's P.O.V****

The second knock I told Emma I would get it. I slowly got of the bed, taking a deep breath opening the door, peeking my head outside first. Seeing a girl with short brown hair, a T-Shirt and shorts, tired droopy eyes, a little acne, and she looked to be in her late forties. I bit my bottom lip and slammed the door.

 That was my mom . . .

Me and my mom were not the greatest pairing. She wanted me to be perfect child. My dad said when you're a kid, enjoy it. You only get to be a kid once. But mother wanted me to be the best around. Did everything she could to make me popular in school, smartest, most talented. My childhood was a bit boring with her around. Before I reached middle school me and my dad were best friends. But my mother said:

" This is when life truly starts! Be the greatest, smartest, friendliest person in school. Make sure you get a good job!" And all that nonsense. She wanted me to have a good future and wasted her life on that. So I spent my time in my room studying most of the time. I often fell asleep. But Mom wanted the best for me and let me have almost no time for myself. So It was lame.

I didn't hate her, just disliked her. I actually called her the 'Ice Queen' She made my childhood very boring. And my dad and me separated, didn't talk much, almost never saw each other. He was in his room doing something I never asked about. And my mother was in my room making me do things only a perfect child would do. Before my mother did all these things, I was a good kid, rarely got into trouble, good grades, and when I was doing bad my dad would help me study. But he would make it fun, make something u for me to remember something. Like making a spelling word into a song. Something dumb but funny and remember able. I moved out soon after high school, my mom actually moving to France I now remember.

" Who is it?" She looked at me worried. " Smoke?" She whispered. Aaron was still sound asleep.

" No, it's nobody. Not Smoke." She looked at me like I was stupid. Yeah, there was obviously some one at the door. She knew that. She heard them coming for gods sake.

She started walking to the door, I was leaning near the handle and she wasn't going to open the door. She wouldn't know it was my mom though. She raised an eyebrow when she reached me.

" Move, There's someone there Derek I'm not stupid. Do you know who it is?" She smiled. crossing her arms. " A girl?" I laughed at the thought. But why would she think I had a girl friend in France? I wouldn't have nearly kissed her if I did.

" No," I smiled and looked at the floor, there was another knock at the door. " They'll go away eventually. It's nothing to worry about."

She grabbed my shoulders and tried to yank me from the door. She failed.

" I know you're there, Derek." Shit. Now Emma knew she knew me. She grinned and begged.

" If you let her in. I'll never bother you again." I sighed. And moved. I didn't want to see my mom again anyways. And no point in Emma meeting her.

Emma turned the handle. opening the door to reveal her.

" Come in," I had a feeling she already knew who it was. My mother sat on the empty bed, next to the pizzas that lied on the circular cardboard. I was shocked when she didn't say anything. " Introduce me." Emma asked, closing the door and sitting on the couch. I sat next to Emma.

" Um," I rubbed the back of my neck. Heart pounding. " This is, my mother. And Mom. This is Emma."

My mother looked at Emma, frowning a bit. Emma looked at her with a fake smile.

" You're girlfriend?" She asked in a bitter voice. Typical her. Emma looked away from her, blushing. And so was I.

" She isn't my girlfriend mom." I said shaking my head swiftly. Laughing a bit.

" Yeah, just friends." Emma backed me up.

My mother shook her head in disbelief. " After all that-" She sighed in frustration. " Anyways. I saw that you were in town. And I thought I would just say hi. And, I would love to have a private conversation without Emma and the big bear here. And I would also like to speak to Emma. If that's alright with you."

Me and Emma looked at each other nervous. What could she do? Ground me? I nodded at her smiling. She nodded back.

" Emma first." She said getting up. Waving her hand towards the door for her to follow. And she did giving me one last look before heading towards the door.
