[Fluff]
You stood by the wall, nervously adjusting your dress and trying not to fidget too much. The gym was packed with people—students dancing, shouting, and laughing to the booming music that rattled the walls. Your heart was beating faster than you liked, and you felt more than out of place. Prom wasn't your kind of thing, and you weren't even sure why you'd shown up.
Well, maybe you did know.
Your eyes scanned the room, landing on her.
Robin was in the middle of a group of friends, laughing at something someone said, her smile bright and effortless. Your stomach flipped just seeing her. She was so different from everyone else. Popular, confident, always at ease no matter the situation. You had spent most of your time in high school convinced that Robin was just another arrogant, popular person—the type who wouldn't bother with someone like you.
But a few months ago, everything changed.
The two of you'd been paired together for a class project, and you had been dreading it. You'd expected Robin to boss you around, not take the project seriously, or worse, completely blow you off. But none of that happened. Instead, Robin had been... nice. Genuinely nice. She'd made you laugh, made you feel comfortable, and had done her share of the work without making you feel small or awkward.
After that, you started greeting each other in the hallways, exchanging casual smiles and waves. Then there was the night at the supermarket. You had been picking up some snacks when you'd run into Robin in one of the aisles. You'd laughed about how terrible school was, bought the cheapest energy drinks you could find, and sat in the parking lot, drinking them and joking about how awful they tasted. That was the night the two if you really became friends.
Friends. That's what you were.
But lately, your feelings had shifted. Over the past month, you'd started feeling... more. More nervous, more shy around Robin. And whenever you hung out, your heart would race and your stomach would knot. You knew you had a crush, but you had no idea if Robin even liked you back, or if she was just being friendly.
Tonight, that feeling was stronger than ever.
"Hey, you hiding over here?" a voice said, startling you out of your thoughts.
You looked up to see Robin standing in front of you, wearing a loose tie and an untucked white shirt, looking effortlessly cool as usual. You felt your heart skip a beat.
"I'm not hiding," you stammered, your face growing warm. "Just... standing."
Robin smirked. "Standing in the corner, avoiding everyone? Sounds like hiding to me."
You bit your lip, trying to figure out how to respond. Before you could come up with anything, Robin reached over and gently tugged at the sleeve of your dress.
"You look nice," Robin said, her tone soft and genuine.
Your face flushed even more. "T-Thanks... You look nice too."
"Thanks." Robin leaned against the wall next to her, looking out at the crowd. "So, are you having fun?"
You hesitated. "I guess... it's okay."
Robin glanced at you, a knowing smile tugging at her lips. "You hate it, don't you?"
You let out a soft laugh, tucking a strand of your behind your ear. "Yeah... It's not really my thing."
"I figured." Robin turned fully toward you, studying you for a moment. "You wanna get out of here?"
You blinked in surprise. "Get out? Like... leave prom?"
