[Fluff]
You're at your desk, fingers flying across the keyboard as you guide Vi through the jungle in League of Legends. It's your main role, and you pride yourself on knowing how to control the map and tilt the enemy team. Normally, you're the quiet type, someone who keeps their cool even in the most intense moments. But not today.
Today, your team is making every mistake in the book.
"Are you blind?!" you shout, slamming your mouse down after watching your mid-laner walk into a completely avoidable gank. "We literally saw them in the river bush! Pinged it and everything!"
From her spot leaning against the doorframe, Maria raises an eyebrow. She's been watching you for a while now, her sharp, calculating eyes locked on you as she casually sips from a cup of coffee. You're completely unaware of her presence, too focused on the game.
It's fascinating for her. Normally, you're so reserved, even around her. She's always admired the quiet strength you carry, the way you choose your words carefully. But right now? You're intense, your usual calm demeanor stripped away by the heat of the match.
You don't notice her stifling a laugh as you mutter something about your ADC "walking it down bot lane."
"Okay, red buff," you mumble to yourself, maneuvering Vi through the jungle. The sound of punches landing as you take out the buff echoes through your headset. "Then gank top. This Jax has been free-farming for way too long."
But when you head to the top lane, your top-laner—who has been consistently overextending—decides this is the moment to engage in a 2v1 under the enemy turret.
"DON'T GO IN YET!" you yell, but it's too late. They dive, get stunned under the turret, and die before you can even press Q.
You throw your hands in the air. "Oh, my God, why?!"
Maria sets her coffee down on the dresser and crosses her arms, smirking as she watches your frustration boil over. Her gaze flicks between the screen and your face, her lips curving into a playful smile.
"I don't know if I've ever heard you yell like that," she finally says, her voice light and teasing.
You whip around in surprise, yanking one side of your headset off. "Hill?! I didn't realize you were there."
She shrugs, stepping closer. "I've been here for a while. You've been too busy raging at your team to notice me."
Your cheeks flush, and you laugh nervously, rubbing the back of your neck. "Uh... yeah. Sorry about that. This team is just—"
"A disaster?" she offers, grinning.
"Exactly!" you exclaim, grateful for her understanding. "The top-laner has no map awareness, the ADC is farming in Narnia, and the mid-laner... don't even get me started."
Maria chuckles and leans against the side of your desk. "So what's your plan now, hotshot?"
"Hard carry," you say with mock confidence, cracking your knuckles. "They're all feeding, so I've gotta make up for it."
She raises an eyebrow. "You? Carrying? I thought you were a team player."
You give her a look, half offended, half amused. "You wound me, Hill. I am a team player. But sometimes, you have to be the hero."
She laughs and shakes her head. "Alright, hero. Let's see what you've got."
You turn back to the game, aware of her eyes on you. The pressure is on now, but in a strange way, it fuels you. You clear your jungle efficiently, keeping your farm up while constantly scanning the map. You manage to secure dragon with a perfectly timed Smite, despite the enemy jungler lurking nearby.
"Nice steal," Maria says softly, and you feel a surge of pride at the approval in her voice.
"Thanks," you reply, your tone a bit steadier now.
The game progresses, and your team continues to struggle, but you're determined not to let it get to you. You catch the enemy mid-laner out of position and obliterate them with a perfectly executed combo. You then rotate to the bot lane, securing a double kill with your ult.
"Boom," you say under your breath, a small smile creeping onto your face.
Maria steps behind you, resting her hands on the back of your chair. "That was actually impressive," she admits. "You're not just yelling for no reason, huh?"
You glance up at her and grin. "See? I told you I've got this."
As the game goes on, the tide slowly turns in your favor. You lead your team in taking Baron, then push down the mid lane with a decisive team fight win. Finally, you smash the enemy Nexus, the victory screen flashing across your monitor.
"GG," you mutter, leaning back in your chair with a satisfied sigh.
Maria claps her hands slowly, her smirk teasing. "Bravo. You actually did it."
You turn to her, still catching your breath. "Yeah, well, it wasn't easy. Did you see that bot-lane disaster? And don't even get me started on—"
Before you can finish, Maria swings a leg over yours and lowers herself into your lap, cutting you off mid-sentence.
Your words catch in your throat as her hands rest lightly on your shoulders. Her weight is warm and grounding, and her proximity makes your heart race.
"Hill...?" you manage, your voice barely above a whisper.
She tilts her head, her sharp eyes locking with yours. "You were... intense," she says softly, her voice carrying a mixture of amusement and something deeper. "I've never seen you like that before. It was... different."
"Different good or different bad?" you ask nervously, though her expression leaves little room for doubt.
She leans in slightly, her lips curling into a playful smile. "Different hot."
Your breath catches as her fingers trail lightly along your jawline. "I didn't think you had that kind of fire in you," she continues, her voice low and teasing. "But watching you take control like that? It was..."
She pauses, searching for the right word.
"Mesmerizing," she finishes, her lips brushing against your cheek as she speaks.
You swallow hard, unsure of what to say. "It's just a game," you mumble, your usual shyness creeping back in.
"Maybe," she replies, her tone still teasing. "But I think there's more to it than that."
She leans back slightly, studying your face with a mischievous glint in her eyes. "You know," she says, "I might need to start watching you play more often. If this is the kind of energy it brings out in you... I could get used to it."
You laugh nervously, your hands resting awkwardly on her hips. "I don't know if my teammates would survive that. They're already traumatized enough."
She grins, leaning in closer until her lips are just a breath away from yours. "Forget your teammates," she murmurs. "Right now, it's just you and me."
And before you can respond, she closes the distance, her lips capturing yours in a kiss that's as intense and electrifying as your gameplay.

A/N: I wrote this after losing my mental sanity while playing League. People, I'm warning y'all: If you should ever start playing League of Legends, you'll never be able to stop, even if it wrecks you completely. But sometimes it's really fun! You should definitely start playing!
