[Fluff]
The laughter and chatter from the living room of Avengers Tower echoed down the hallway as you made your way toward it. You paused at the doorway, taking in the scene. The massive couch was crowded with your friends—your family—each holding a beer, faces lit with joy. You took a deep breath and stepped into the room.
"Hey, everyone," you said, your voice carrying over the noise.
The room fell silent as all eyes turned toward you. Tony Stark was the first to react, striding over with a wide grin and pulling you into a tight hug. "Y/N! Good to see you back in one piece."
"Thanks, Tony," you replied, hugging him back.
Steve Rogers was next, his handshake turning into a bear hug. "Welcome home, Y/N. We missed you."
Natasha Romanoff gave you a nod and a rare, genuine smile. "You did great out there."
Thor and Bruce Banner offered their own heartfelt greetings, and Clint Barton pulled you into a quick, tight hug, his usual smirk softened by genuine affection. Amidst the flurry of greetings, your eyes kept darting around, searching for one person in particular—Maria.
You spotted her sitting on the couch between Natasha and Clint, her eyes cast downward, her expression tense.
"Ria?" you called out, your voice a mix of concern and relief.
Maria looked up slowly, her face streaked with tears she was struggling to hold back. The moment she saw you, her resolve crumbled. She jumped up, her beer falling to the floor with a soft thud, and sprinted across the room. Without a second thought, she leaped into your arms.
You caught her effortlessly, feeling the familiar weight and warmth of Maria as her legs wrapped around your waist and her arms clung tightly to your neck. She buried her face in your shoulder, her body trembling as the sobs she had been holding back finally broke free.
"I couldn't keep it together," she whispered through her tears, her voice barely audible. "I was so scared for you."
You held her tightly, your own eyes filling with tears. You gently rubbed Maria's back, her voice soothing. "It's okay, Ria. You don't have to be strong all the time. I'm here now. I'm safe."
Maria's sobs intensified, her emotions finally breaking free. "I missed you so much," she cried into your neck.
"I missed you too," you replied, your voice thick with emotion. You pressed your lips to your girlfriend's temple, the feel of her, the scent of her, grounding you in a way nothing else could. "More than you can imagine."
The two of you stood there, wrapped in each other's arms, the world around you fading away. Slowly, you lifted Maria's face, your thumb brushing away the tears. You leaned in, your lips meeting in a kiss that spoke of love, relief, and the promise of never being apart again.
When you finally pulled back, Maria managed a tearful smile. "I love you, Y/N/N."
"I love you too, Ria," you replied, your voice steady and full of conviction. "And I'm not leaving you again."
As you turned back to the others, who had respectfully given you space, Clint scooted over, making room on the couch. "Come on, there's plenty of room for you two," he said with a grin.
You and Maria joined the group on the couch, but as the night wore on, Maria gradually drifted off to sleep, her head nestled on your shoulder, her arms and legs wrapped around you. You smiled down at your peacefully sleeping girlfriend, knowing that no matter what challenges the two of you faced, as long as you were together, you could overcome anything. And with Maria in your arms, you felt invincible.
