[Angst/Fluff]

You woke to the sound of Dex's scream, sharp and filled with terror. Your heart clenched as you saw your girlfriend thrashing in the sheets, eyes wide and wild. Instinctively, you reached out, gathering Dex into your arms.

"Shhh, it's okay, baby. I'm here," you whispered, your voice steady despite the worry gnawing at your insides. You felt Dex's body trembling against yours, fragile and scared.

Holding Dex close, you stroked her back in slow, soothing circles. You kissed Dex's temple, your heart aching at the sight of tears streaming down your girlfriend's face. "You're safe. It was just a dream."

Dex's grip tightened, and she buried her face in the crook of your neck, seeking refuge. You held her even tighter, your hands moving to cradle Dex's head. You pressed soft, reassuring kisses to Dex's hair, each one a promise of your presence.

"It felt so real. Like I was back there. Seeing Benny-," Dex's voice broke, filled with the remnants of fear.

You cupped her face, lifting it so your eyes met. You could see the lingering panic and the pain she carried from her past in Dex's eyes and felt a surge of protective love. "I know, hon. But I'm right here, and I'm not going anywhere." You brushed your lips against Dex's, gentle and tender, feeling Dex relax slightly in your arms.

Kissing away Dex's tears, you whispered, "You're safe. I promise." You kissed her again, pouring all your love and reassurance into each touch. Dex responded, her kisses tentative at first, then more certain as the fear began to melt away.

You held Dex close, your foreheads touching, your breaths mingling. "Do you want to talk about it?" you asked softly, your fingers running through Dex's hair.

Dex shook her head, her voice small. "Not now. Just... hold me."

"Always," you murmured, pulling her even tighter against you. You felt Dex's breathing slow, her body gradually relaxing in your embrace. You continued to stroke Dex's hair, your touch light and comforting.

As the minutes passed, you could feel your girlfriends heartbeat steadying, syncing with your own. You marveled at the depth of your love for this woman, at how fiercely you wanted to protect her from every harm, even from the shadows of her own past.
