Chapter 16

During the time I was going back and forth to Busan and back home, and while I was in Busan, Jimin and I texted a lot and stayed very close. But no one else knows and we don't want to tell anyone. I put down my phone and look at Jimin. He smiles reassuringly at me and nods. Then I close my eyes and fall asleep for a while while we drive to the airport.

***A bit later***

When we get to the airport, Jimin gently wakes me up and says flirtatiously, "Sweetie, get up. We're at the airport." I smile at the nickname and open my eyes. I get out of the car and go to get my suitcase, but Taehyung rushes ahead again and gets it for me. We enter the airport and head to the waiting area.

We still have an hour and a half until our flight, so I pull my computer out of my backpack and start watching a movie with my headphones on. Jimin comes over, sits next to me, and, taking one of my headphones, starts watching with me.

After a little over an hour, we slowly start to board the plane. We start to line up with other people. Jimin, Lisa, and I are the last ones in line and wait for our turn. When the end of the line finally comes, Jimin shows his ticket and then goes on to the plane.

I show my ticket and then step aside to wait for Lisa. Lisa shows the ticket she bought on her phone, but then the woman behind the counter checking the tickets says, "I'm sorry, but your ticket is invalid." Lisa asks, "What? Invalid how?" The woman replies, "I don't know, but the computer says your ticket is invalid. I can't let you on the plane, miss." Lisa gets teary-eyed and looks down, then steps away from the counter. I run up to the counter and say, "I'm sorry, I'd like to buy one ticket for this flight." The woman replies, "But miss, you already have a ticket." I say, "I'll pay for her ticket. Just please hurry. We don't want to delay anyone."

The woman replies, "Of course, miss." Lisa looks at me with teary eyes and I smile at her. Then I pull out my card and the woman says, "That'll be a total of ***$." Lisa's eyes widen at the price and she says, "Min Lee.......!" I ignore her and nod to the woman, then pay. The woman hands me my ticket and says, "Have a nice trip." There are 2 minutes left until departure, so I take Lisa's hand and we run to the plane.

We manage to board in time. We are quickly seated and the flight attendant starts talking. I look at Lisa. Her face is pale and her hands are shaking a little. Jungkook, who is sitting next to her, looks at her strangely. I sigh and say to Jimin, who is sitting next to me, "Sorry, oppa, but I think I'll go and sit with Lisa for a while." He smiles and nods understandingly.

I walk over to Jungkook and Lisa. They're sitting next to each other and there's a third empty seat next to them. Lisa's sitting by the window and Jungkook's in the middle. I look at Jungkook and say, "Move over, Jeon." He raises an eyebrow but obeys. I sit in the middle and take Lisa's hand in mine.

I squeeze it gently and ask, "You haven't flown before, have you?" Lisa looks at me with wide eyes and shakes her head. I smile at her friendly, then say, "It's okay. Hey, I'm right next to you, okayy??" She nods weakly and I say, "Okay. Now we're going to take off, okay? While that's happening, I want you to look at me and talk to me, okay?"

She nods and I start talking, "Soo. Tell me about your family." Lisa takes a deep breath and says, "Well....uhh, I'm an only child, but I have a good friend back home in Thailand who's like a brother to me, his name is BamBam." I ask, "Wow. You're an only child? That must be cool. I have two older brothers. You must have seen them at school before. They graduated last year." Lisa nods, feeling a little relieved, and then says, "Yeah, they're cute." I smile and say, "Yeah, they are. But unfortunately, I have some bad news. One of them announced a few days ago that he got engaged to his girlfriend. And they're going to have a baby." Lisa smiles weakly and says jokingly, "Yeah, that's really sad."
