Almost like back then (JJK fanfic)

Chapter 2

~Min Lee's POV~

It was THEM. Both of them came in the school, laughing very loudly and drawing all the attention on them. I shared glances with my best friends, they gave me a supportive side hug.

Here's some history for context. 

***Flashback***

---11 years ago, on a summer break---

Jungkook and I knew each other since the day I was born. We were raised together. I know his family, he knows mine. Our families are neighbours so we were always spending time together.

Anyways, me and Jungkook were running in the meadow near our homes, trying to catch each other. Jungkook ran up to me, grabbed my hand and said:"Min Lee, I caught you. Now it's your turn. Catch me if you can," then stuck his tongue out and ran away. 

 Of course, he runs very fast so catching him is not easy but I do know how to get him. I hid in the long grass and waited for him to start looking for me because then he will be coming back. I started the countdown from 10 and waited for him. Of course, he ran back and tripped over my foot. Upset, he claims:"Hey, it's not fair. You can't do that. But fine, you win anyways since you caught me faster than I caught you. What do you want as your prize?"

I pretend to think and then smile and say:"Give me your candy." His eyes widen and he says:"No, not my last candy. Maybe you want a hug instead?" I shake my head and say:"No That's not how it works. Give me your candy." He pouts and says:"But it's my last candy.....however, I can give you pickles." I nod immediately and reply excitedly:"You should've said that from the start."

We go back to the house and enter the kitchen. He walks up to his mom and asks:"Mommy, can I have a pickle for Min Lee?" She squats down and asks:"Jungkook, did you lose again?" He smiles and nods, replying:"Yes, mom. She always wins. How is that possible? I'm older and faster than her." She fluffs his hair and sighs:"Honey...Sometimes it's not speed that's needed to win, it's brains," then hands him the pickle and leaves the room. 

---2 years later, 1st of September---

I ask my mom: "Do I really need this?? I don't want to go to school." Mom replies: "Baby. You don't even know what it's like there. Maybe you'll like it. Just try it." We hear a knock, and Jungkook enters the room. Dressed up and holding a flower: "Min Lee, are you ready?? Come on, I don't want to be late??" I say: "Hold on. Happy birthday. Do you want a gift??" Jungkook looks at his mom and asks: "Mommy, can I??"

His mom takes the flower from him and says: "Of course. Just not for too long." But I'm already back with the gift. I hand him a beautifully wrapped gift. He carefully opens the package and opens his mouth in shock. "But it's expensive. Thank you, Min Lee, huge thank you." He smiles and puts the box aside and hugs me with all his might. I add, "Jungkook, I can't breathe." He apologizes and lets me go. Then we go to our moms, who are talking in the next room, and head to school.

--- 5 years later, on my birthday---

Jungkook runs up to me, shoves a very thick book and an alarm clock into my hands, and hugs me, saying, "Happy 12th birthday." I'm thinking now, we're going to be best friends forever, maybe even get married eventually. Right?? I ask him, "We're going to be best friends forever, right??"

Jungkook smiles and says, "Yeah. Why wouldn't we be?? We're going to be best friends even when we get married. Right??" I smile, "Jungkook, You're thinking exactly what I'm thinking." I say that and hug him again. At that moment, I thought I was the luckiest girl in the world because I have the best friend in the world.

---4 years later, a couple months ago, this summer---

It's a beautiful day. I just turned 16, and Jungkook is about to turn 17. Jungkook and I are at my summer house, which is right on the beach. We're thinking about going to the beach to hang out, swim, and play volleyball. We go to the beach, Jungkook takes off his shorts and shirt, and is left in just his swimming trunks. I also take off my shirt and shorts, and am left in just my swimsuit. 

He looks at me and blushes but can't take his eyes off of me. "You look beautiful, Min Lee." After that we go to get some ice cream. 

---20 minutes later, back at the sea---

Jungkook is sunbathing, but I come out of the sea and splash him with cold water. He wakes up, because it turns out he was asleep, and says: "What's going on??" He notices me and smiles, says: "Damn it. Min Lee. You scared me. Where did the person who splashed me go?? Which way did they go??" I smile. He looks at me and understands. He says: "Well, Min Lee. You're dead."I start running away, and run into the sea. He runs after me. But trips and falls face first into the seaweed. I start laughing so hard because he can't stand seaweed. Jungkook gets up from the water and says: "Oh my god. Don't laugh, Min Lee. This isn't funny. I almost died in those few seconds I was down there. Phew." And then he keeps running after me. We run into the water where we're both about waist deep.

And now he's pushing me in. I get out of the water and push him in. We start splashing around. Water gets in his eyes, and while he's trying to get the water out of his eyes, I run to the shore. But like I said, Jungkook is really fast. He quickly runs up to me. I run to the shore and start running backwards, looking at him. But then I trip and fall right onto the towel. Jungkook runs after me until his legs get tangled and he falls right on top of me. There's about 5 cm between our faces.

I start to blush, and I want to tell him to get off me. But then something soft stops me. I realize he's kissing me. I'm in shock. But I kiss back, and I feel Jungkook smile. But then he pulls away. And I realize that I was cold without him. And I kind of enjoyed that kiss. But Jungkook apologizes: "Please forgive me, Min Lee. I don't understand what happened to me. It won't happen again."

I stop and look him in the eye. Jungkook asks: "Did you like it??", I don't answer and he takes it as a yes, and he kisses me again. But then he pulls away. "I'm sorry," he says, "but that's not right. Okay, maybe it is, but I have to confess to you........"

"Min Lee, I love you."
