Chapter 22

***A little over an hour and a half later***

When we get to the hospital, Jungkook wakes me up and pays the driver. We get out of the taxi and enter the hospital. Jungkook calls Minho and says, "Hey, hyung. We're here. What's next??" Minho replies, "Wait at the reception. I'll call a friend." Then Minho hangs up.

Jungkook sits me down and lets me rest my head on his shoulder. He asks, "How are you feeling??" I smile and answer, "Bad?? I don't know." Jungkook smiles a little and looks into my eyes. I look at him too and we make eye contact again. Jungkook takes my hand in his and squeezes it gently. He smiles at me and I smile back.

And then suddenly I'm startled by a voice that says, "Heyy, Min Lee." I quickly jump to my feet and smile happily at the person who called me, who is my brother Minho's friend Lee Jinki, who works as a doctor. I say, "Jinki-yah." He smiles and says, "I heard you had an injury?? Let's go take a look." He looks at Jungkook and says, "Come with us."

When we enter a ward, Jinki makes me sit on the bed. He runs a few tests on me and examines me. Then he turns to Jungkook and, putting the flashlight he used to check my vision back in his pocket, says, "You were right, she DOES have a concussion." Then he turns to me and asks, "Does your head only hurt??" I shake my head and immediately regret it because of the headache.

Jinki looks at me and asks in a slightly worried voice, "No?? What else hurts??" I point to my knee and say, "My leg hurts, my knee." Jinki looks at Jungkook and I say, "I just noticed, don't blame Jungkook." Jinki smiles and says, "I'm not blaming anyone, but you're going to have to show me where and what exactly hurts. Can you do that??" I nod and start to pull my jeans up, but Jinki says, "You better take them off completely so I can look and feel them."

I nod and, completely forgetting about Jungkook's presence in the ward, I take my jeans off, leaving only my underwear on. Jungkook looks me over and can barely contain his smile. Jinki says, "You can lie down on the bed and straighten your leg," and covers me up, revealing only the injured area. I nod and obey, then Jinki touches my knee and I wince in pain.

Jinki says, "Clear. It looks like a dislocated knee. You'll have to wear a knee brace for at least a couple of weeks. When Minho comes, he'll bring you the brace you need. I'll text him right away." Jinki writes quickly and then turns to me again and says, "And you'll have to stay here overnight, okay? So we can see if you get any worse."

I nod and then Jinki turns to Jungkook and says, "Good thing you brought her. It could have ended worse if you hadn't brought her." Jungkook smiles and then Jinki says, "Will you sit with her for a few minutes?? I need coffee." Jungkook nods and sits down next to me. Then he says, "I guess it's pointless to ask how you're feeling, right??" I shrug and take a deep breath.

Jinki returns a few minutes later with coffee and Minho. Jinki takes the knee brace, makes me stand, and helps me put it on my leg while Minho holds the blanket in front of me. Jinki then gives me hospital clothes and sends me to change while Minho is already leaving for his home in Busan. When I get back, he injects painkillers into my system and lets me rest. As I lie down, he turns to Jungkook and says, "You can go home if you want, Jungkook. She's spending the night here. But if you want, you can stay."

Jungkook smiles amiably and says, "I think I'll stay here, thanks. I'll keep Min Lee company." Jinki smiles and nods, then leaves the room. I look at Jungkook and smile, then say, "Thank you, I appreciate it." He smiles back and says, "It's the least I can do."

***The next morning***

When I wake up, Jungkook comes into my ward with food. He smiles and says, "Good morning, how did you sleep?? I brought breakfast," then puts the food on my lap. I smile and tell him, then I ask, "Have you eaten yet??" He smiles and says, "I'm not really hungry, but yes, I did." I say, "I'm a little hungry, thanks." I eat quickly and then Jungkook says, "Your brother's friend will come right away and check on your condition so he can discharge you. Then we'll go to your house." I smile and tell him. When Jinki comes, he examines and checks me.

Then he asks, "How's your head?? And how's your leg??" I touch my head, where I have a bandage now, and say, "It hurts, but I'll live." Then Jinki looks at my leg, then says, "You'll have to wear this cast for about 3-4 weeks, but when the 3rd week is approaching, you should see a doctor and he should confirm that you can really take the cast off."

I smile and say, then I crawl to the edge of the bed and I'm about to jump off, but Jungkook stops me and lifts me up carefully. Jinki nods and says, "You can't jump. First of all, it'll hurt and secondly, it could make the injury worse." I nod and then Jinki says, "Let's go, Jungkook. Let's let her change." Jungkook obeys and then they both leave. I grab the bag of clothes that was placed on my bed at some point.

I put on skinny jeans, a shirt, and a hoodie over it. Then Jungkook comes back into the ward. I ask, "Where did the clothes come from??" Jungkook scratches the back of his head and says shyly, "While you were sleeping, I went to your house and got you some clothes to change into. I also got your favorite book, headphones, and things in case you don't get discharged." I smile, pat him on the shoulder as we walk past, and say, "Oh, you're so cute."

Jungkook turns around and then says, "Okay, let's go. A taxi will pick us up right down." He takes my things, puts them in a bag, takes the bag, and we leave the ward. As we walk, he helps me walk, holding me and letting me lean on him. Once we get into the taxi and start driving, we get to my house pretty quickly.As we get out of the taxi and walk towards the house, I stop and say, "Stop. You shouldn't be here. Min Seok oppa will kill you. Go home or leave, I'll get through this on my own." Jungkook sighs and says, "Well, it's fine, I deserve it." I look at him with big eyes and he smiles encouragingly.
