Chapter 23

When we enter the house, Jungkook takes off my shoes and then his, takes off my jacket and hangs it on a hanger. We start walking upstairs to my room when Grace comes out. She looks at both of us and says, "Let me get the bag." Jungkook hands her the bag and Grace follows us. When we get to my room, Jungkook sits me down on the bed and crouches down so that he's at my level.

He turns to Grace and asks, "Can you get me a glass of water please??" Grace leaves and Jungkook picks up the bag from the ground. He opens it and takes out a couple of boxes. When Grace comes back with the glass of water, Jungkook opens the box and hands me the medicine from the box. Grace looks at him questioningly and Jungkook, without even looking at her, says, "Painkillers." Grace nods understandingly. She hands me a glass, I put the pills in my mouth and drink the water over it.

I smile and thank them both for helping me. Grace looks at me and sits down next to me, then touches the band-aid on my head. She says, "We'll talk about it later." I ask, "How's the baby?? You didn't send me a photo anyway." She nods and opens her phone, then is about to show me the pictures when Min Seok appears in the doorway. He looks at me and smiles.

He comes over to me, crouches down and hugs me, then says, "Heyy, baby sis. It's nice to see you again, but it's a shame it's under these circumstances. Minho told us what happened." I hug him too and say, "I would have come anyway. I wanted to spend time with you two." He smiles, then stands up, turns around and his smile disappears. He looks at Jungkook and says, "Jeon!"Jungkook, looking at Min Seok with big eyes, says, "Hyung." Min Seok says, "Min Lee, lift your left sleeve." I look at him and say, "Oppa....." He says, without even looking at me, "Don't make me repeat myself." Grace and I look at each other and she nods approvingly and I understand that she is saying through her eyes, "Do it, it will be better! Don't make him even more angry."I obey and lift my sleeve. You can still see the mark of Jungkook's hand there. Min Seok says, "What makes you think you have any right to raise your hand against my little sister?? You can't even touch her without her permission." Jungkook says, "Yeah, I know, but...." Min Seok slowly starts to approach him and says, "Don't interrupt me. I'm not finished." Jungkook nods and Min Seok takes a few more steps closer.

Min Seok is about 1.86m while Jungkook is 1.79m, which gives Min Seok a slight advantage because he can look down on Jungkook. He says, "For your sake, I hope you have a good excuse." Jungkook looks down and shakes his head dismissively, then says, "I was just angry and took my anger out on Min Lee. I feel terrible shame and immense regret for what I did."Min Seok laughs sarcastically and asks, "Shame? Regret?? That doesn't make anything better. You physically hurt Min Lee." 

I stand up and walk in front of Jungkook and say, "Okay, Min Seok oppa. That's enough. I'm fine, I promise. He just did it in anger. People do bad things in anger that they don't even want to do. I already forgave him. It's time for you to forgive him too." Min Seok sighs, steps back, and says, "Last warning, kiddo. Next time I'll kill you." I smile and turn to face Jungkook, but in the meantime, Min Seok leaves the room. Jungkook breathes a sigh of relief and says, "Damn, Min Lee. You keep saving me. Even when at school I..." I realize Grace is still here, so I quickly put my hand over Jungkook's mouth. Grace looks at us and asks, "Jungkook, at school, what??" I smile and say, "Nothing. We were just arguing. That's all." Grace nods but doesn't seem convinvced.

***Couple of days later***

When we arrive back to Seoul, Jungkook speaks up:"I have a small surprise for you," while once again handing me my daily dose of medicine. "SURPRISE? I love surprises." Jungkook smiles and says:"Yes, I know. And especially when you're gonna see this one. At least I hope so." We get ready and call a cab. Jungkook first tells the address and helps me get in the car. 

We drive in silence for about 20 minutes and then we arrive to N Seoul tower. I smile in excitement and say:"Oh my god, I've never been up there." He smiles back and says:"I know." Then he gives me his hand to hold on to while climbing the stairs and I gladly take it since my leg is still hurting. 

When we enter, the place is completely empty, but by the Jungkook's face, I can see that it's his doing. We go up to the elevator and Jungkook presses the button for the top of the tower. When we're close to the top, he makes me close my eyes and carefully leads me out of the elevator and then allows me to open my eyes. 

I say, "Wow, it's so beautiful." I walk to the edge and lean against the railing. Jungkook comes up next to me and smiles. I say, "That's a beautiful view." Jungkook, without me seeing, looks at me and says, "Yes, it's a beautiful view," about me." I look at him and he quickly looks away.I turn back to the view. I say, "It's so beautiful here, I want to stay and live here." Jungkook laughs and says, "You'll freeze, dummy. And you'll get bored here quickly." I look at him, playfully push him and say, "Don't call me that. And besides, I wouldn't get tired of this view." He replies, "How can I not call you, dummy?? For a dummy?? What do you want me to call you??" I say, "Anything except dummy."

He sighs and smiles. Then he says, "Let's sit down so you don't get tired." I nod and we both sit down on a bench nearby. I start thinking to myself, "Okayy, Min Lee. Now is the perfect time to do it. For you to do what Grace told you to do. Just be cool about your feelings and see how he reacts to it."

I look at Jungkook and say, "Uh, Jungkook??" He turns to me and says, "Yeah??" I look him in the eye and I want to say something, but I can't bring myself to open my mouth. He says, "Aren't you cold??" I say, "Well, uh..." He stands up, takes off his jacket and puts it on me. Then he says, "Here, should get better." I look at him and say, "Thank you."

Then he looks at me again and says, "You wanted to say something??" I say, "Uh, it's not important." Jungkook says, "It's okay, I want to hear it anyway." I swallow and then say, "Uhh, well...." He turns fully to me and I say, "Uhh, I want you to know that what I'm saying doesn't have to change anything about us. I just think it would be perfectly fair for you to know."He nods and I say, "Well...I think I like you. I really do. As in, I'm in love with you." He looks at me and then freezes and doesn't say anything for a few seconds. I get up and stand back against the railing, my back to him. He gets up and walks over to me, turning me to face him. He says, "So you don't want to hear what I have to say about this??"

I bite my lip and say, "Well...I'm just scared of it." He smiles and leans in a little closer to me and says, "Don't worry, the feeling is mutual." My eyes widen and he nods and says, "I know you knew. "I know you...sweetie." He calls me by Jimin's name, and I wince. He laughs, says, "Yeah, it sounds better when Jimin hyung says it," and then takes a step closer to me.

He puts his hands on my face and says, "I, Choi Min Lee, am madly in love with you. So much so that it drives me crazy." After saying that, he comes even closer and is about to kiss me, but then I look up, reach out my hand and say: "Wow, it's snowing." Jungkook laughs at me, also catches a few snowflakes in his palm and says: "Yeah, it's really snowing." Then he turns back to me, looks into my eyes and kisses me carefully.

When he pulls away, I feel my heart beating very fast. Jungkook must understand it too, because he puts his hand on my chest, checking my heartbeat. He smiles, looks into my eyes and says: "It's just me, baby. Why are you so worried?? You don't have to worry around me." He hugs me and I smell his scent. I smile and calm down a bit. Then Jungkook pulls away and asks, "What now??" I ask, "What do you mean??" He says, "Well....you love me and I love you.....what's going to happen with/between us now??" I look down and gulp from nervosity.

Then I look at Jungkook and say, "I'm afraid nothing can happen. You're with Lisa." Jungkook says, "But I can...." I interrupt him and say, "I know you can. But you can't. Lisa is a very nice girl. And I can't be the reason you broke up with her." Jungkook says, "But....you...." I say, "Jungkook. It can only happen between us if she breaks up with you herself. It can't be otherwise. I'm sorry. This...will stay between us for now."

He looks down and says, "You're right." He hugs me again and I hug him back. Then he looks at me and says, "If this stays between us, then I can keep doing this." I say, "Jungkook....." He ignores me, lifts my chin up, and kisses me again. And I can't refuse it, so I let myself go.
