Chapter 24

***About two years later***

My classmate Brian and I look at each other, we both stand up, grab our things and go to the teacher's desk. We both put our excuse notes on the teacher's desk, the teacher looks at us, takes our notes, smiles and says: "Thanks. Good luck. I'll send you all your homework, okayy?? See you when you finally get back." Brian and I both nod and then we leave the classroom. Before leaving I look at my classmates, they seem very interested in what we're doing, because everyone is looking in our direction.

When we leave the classroom, Brian and I look at each other and as we walk towards the school exit, we start laughing. Brian says: "Oh man. Did you see the expressions on their faces??" I laugh and say: "Oh yeah, that was so cool." Brian asks: "What do you think they'll think of us now??" I shrug and say, "Okay, we need to hurry up a bit. My brother will pick us up and take us to the airport." Brian nods and then we quickly go to the school locker room, grab our bags and head out the door.

As we're leaving, Brian says, "Oh man. It's so weird going to school in regular clothes instead of a uniform??" I laugh and say, "I know, right?? But it's not bad, to be honest." Brian nods and we walk to the car. As we get in, Minho says, "Heyy?? How did you do on your test??" I look at Brian in the rearview mirror and say, "That was easier than I expected, wasn't it??"

Brian nods and Minho asks, "Brian, this is the first time for both of you to perform. I already know how Min Lee feels, but how are you feeling??" The person he's talking to replies, "Very excited. But I can't wait." I smile and add, "Me neither. That sounds so cool." Soon we get to the airport. When we get out of the car, Minho picks up my suitcase and comes with us. He checks that we have everything, then turns to me and asks, "Have you eaten, is your phone charged?? Do you need any money??" I laugh and say, "I'm really good, oppa."

He sighs and says, "Okay, I'll send you some money, okayy??" I sigh and nod, then we head to the place where everyone is supposed to meet. We arrive and Caitlin, my friend, runs over and hugs us both. Then he says, "I still can't believe we're doing this." I nod, then she notices my brother, swallows, smiles, and says, "Hi."

Minho smiles back politely, then turns to me and says, "Okay, princess. I'm off. I have to go to work. Good luck. But we'll call you tonight, okayy?? Ugh, I'm going to miss you so much." I smile and nod, then he walks away. Caitlyn looks at me and says, "Oh my god, I can't. Your brother is so hot." I laugh and say, "Kate, let's compete first, then you can drool over my brother when we're done."

She sighs and nods. Then he asks: "Do you think we'll make it?? I smile and answer: "I'm 100% sure we'll win. We're the best." Then Brian and I walk to the center and I say loudly: "We'll win, because who are we??" Everyone puts their hands together and says loudly: "Because we're the best!! Royal Family is the best!!" I look in the direction my brother went and see that he's smiling at me and giving me a thumbs up, so I smile back.

***A week later, in Los Angeles***

"Who are we??" Everyone puts their hands together in the center and says, "We are the Royal Family!!" Our dance team captain Krystal scans us and then says, "Okay, team. We've been preparing for this for a long time. Let's go out there and beat everyone, show them that we're the best." Brian and I look at each other and I'm like, "Ugh, I'm so nervous I'm having a little trouble breathing." Brian says, "I know, cuz same, girl." We smile at each other and then we're called up on stage.

***One more week, next performance***

Today is the performance that could take us to the semifinals. I take a breath and then we go perform. Krystal says, "Okay, team. This is the performance that could take us to the finals. Remember, we can do it, okayy??" We all get ready and then we're called up on stage.

***Week Four, Final***

Krystal looks at all of us and says, "Okay, team. Let's remember that we're the best. No matter what happens today, remember that we made it to the finals. Oh my god, I love you all so much." Some of them laugh and then she says, "But if anyone messes up, I'll kill you." Brian laughs and Krystal looks at him fiercely, then smiles and says, "I'm kidding. Min Lee, Brian. You two are in the middle a lot. Remember to smile. Min Lee, watch your knee. Remember, health comes first."I nod seriously and she asks, "Are you sure it's a good idea to go on stage without a bandage??" I nod and say, "Yeah, I'll survive. I promise." She nods and then says, "We can do it. Today is the finals, let's do our best, okayy??" 

Everyone nods and Krystal checks everything a few more times. Brian looks at her and says, "Seriously, Krystal. Calm down. It's going to be okay. We've been practicing for a long time." She looks at Brian and says, "I'm trying, okayy??"

Brian nods, pulls her aside and kisses her, then says, "Baby, it's gonna be fine, we're ready for this." Krystal nods and hugs her. We all shake and then he says from the stage, "Next to last, the Royal Family dance crew will perform. Please give us a round of applause."

***One day later**

I'm sitting in my room and Krystal's room looking at our trophy that we won for winning first place. I get up tired and then Krystal walks in. She asks, "Are you ready??" I nod, stand up and yawn. Krystal smiles and says, "Don't worry. It's finally over. You can go home now and sleep as much as you want." I smile and nod.

***After the flight***

When I finally get back to Seoul, Minho meets me at the airport. He smiles when he sees me. He comes over and hugs me with all his might, then says, "Congratulations. You were so great. I'm so proud of you." I smile a tired smile and he says, "Let's take you home. You must be tired." I nod and we walk to the car.

***Next day***

I sit down on the school bench and Brian sits down next to me. I rest my head on my hands on the book and half-doze off. Brian smiles and says, "I can't stop sleeping either, I'm so tired, even though the competition ended days ago." I lift my head and look at him, then I show him a very tired 🤫. He laughs and nods, then puts his big jacket over me like a blanket.

~Jimin's pov~

Taehyung, Jungkook, and I enter the classroom and are talking about things, when suddenly Taehyung freezes and points at something. Jungkook and I both look at each other and I smile happily, then I say out loud, "Min Lee is back." I energetically run to her desk and am about to touch her when our classmate Brian, who is sitting next to her, stops my hand, looks at me and says, "Wait. Don't wake her up. Let her sleep. She's tired."

I'm about to ignore him and wake Min Lee up, but this time I'm stopped by Jungkook, who says, "Hyung. Really. She looks tired. Let her rest." Saying that, he goes to his seat and then I do the same, letting her sleep.

When the class starts, the teacher comes in and checks who the students are. When it's Min Lee's turn, Brian raises his hand and says, "Teacher, Min Lee is here, but she's sleeping." The teacher nods understandingly and says, "Brian. I understand that you have something for me in that case." Brian nods, takes a wad of papers from his backpack and then from Min Lee's, stands up and takes them to the teacher.

Then he says to her, "This is for the last week. For the rest of the month, I take it, have you received everything??" The teacher nods and says, "Since she's done everything for the month she missed and more, then let her sleep." Brian smiles and sits back down. Jungkook and I exchange confused looks and then turn back to class.
