Chapter 35

***A few days later***

I'm standing at the airport with my suitcase and saying goodbye to Min Seok, Grace, and the twins. Min Seok hugs me and then as he pulls away, he says, "If anything happens or you need anything, I'm just a phone call away, okayy?? I'll be right over to you. Agreed??" I laugh and say, "Agreed. But I'll be fine, oppa. I promise. I have to get back to school and... I also need some time to be alone. Away from my family and friends." He nods and says, "I know."

***A few months later***

I get out of the taxi and take a breath. I smile and start walking towards my house. It's Christmas time, so I'm here to spend a few days at home with my family...and to surprise them, because they don't know I'll be there yet.....Anyway, I walk into the house and the smell of food wafts through the air. I smile excitedly and walk into the dining room, shouting, "Heyy!! Were you waiting for me??"

My mom's smile fades and I stop smiling too. She stands up and I look down. She comes over to me and I gulp. She comes over and then looks at me. I look into her eyes and I see that she has tears in her eyes. I say, "Mom...." She hugs me really tight and says, "My darling, I've missed you so much."

She starts crying and I laugh, then I hug her back. She says through her tears, "I thought you wouldn't be here. You said you had competitions and exams." I pat my mom's head and say, "Ugh, I passed my exams a little faster and .....the competition was right before the flight, I managed to perform quickly and then I ran to the plane. I miss you so much, mom. I couldn't miss Christmas with you." She pulls away from the hug and strokes my face, then says, "Oh, you're my smart baby."

Then she turns her back on me while wiping away her tears. She turns to my dad and says, "Sweetie, our little girl is home." I laugh and say, "Mom, I'm 21, I'm not that little anymore." She smiles at me and says, "You'll always be little to me." My dad stands up and also comes over to me and hugs me.

My brothers, Grace and the twins, follow his example. Grace looks at me and says, "You, honey... I missed you so much." I smile and nod, then say it back. Then Mom says, "Okay, guys. Make room for your sister at the table. Honey, go put your things away and wash your hands, we'll set a place for you in the meantime."

I nod and Grace says, "I'll come with you. I have something to tell you that you missed." I nod and we go to my room, where I put my bag down. I go to the bathroom and quickly wash my hands. When I get back to my room, Grace says, "Anyways... I wanted to tell you that......" I look at her as I take off my coat, which is completely covering me, and hang it on a hanger... Grace pauses and looks at me, then says, "Oh, baby. You look... nice." She smirks and I laugh. Then I look in the mirror.

I have a layered white shirt with a top and skirt combo as well as I have dyed my hair red and have done a partial french braid.

I walk over and say, "Thanks, Grace?? Did you want to say something??" She nods, then smiles, and as we walk downstairs, she says, "Yeah, so." We get downstairs and walk through the dining room into the kitchen. Mom says, "Girls, please get some more juice for the kids." I say, "Okay, Mom," then I turn to Grace and say, "So?? Don't scare me??" She takes the juice and on the way to the dining room she smiles at me and says, "I'm pregnant, honey." She puts the juice on the table and turns to me.

I freeze and say, "What??" She smiles again and says, "You heard me. I'm pregnant, Min Lee." Tears well up in my eyes and I smile. Grace laughs and says to Min Seok, "See?? I told her she would cry. I won." I ask, "Where did you win??" We both sit down and Grace says, "Min Seok and I made a bet on how you'd react to this. I said you'd cry, he said you wouldn't, you'd just be really happy."

I wipe my tears and say, "Heyy, that's not nice." Mom smiles and says, "It doesn't matter if you cry or not. We know you're happy. We all are." Then she looks around the table and turns to me and says, "Min Lee, honey. Be so kind as to check if the roast is ready." I smile and say, "Sure, Mom." I stand up and Grace asks, "Would you please get me some water while you're in the kitchen??"

I nod and while I check the roast, Mom says, "By the way, since we thought you wouldn't be there, we invited the Jeon family too. I hope that's okay??" I reply, "Of course not," without even looking at the table. Then I take a glass and fill it with water, and when I'm about to come back, Mom says, "If anything, Jungkook is here with his girlfriend. I hope that's not a problem?"

Mom's words shock me so much, the glass falls out of my hand, falls to the ground and shatters. I blush when I feel everyone's eyes on me. I smile awkwardly and say, "My hand slipped. No, of course it's not a problem." Grace gets up and helps me pick up the glass shards. I crouch down and start gathering the glasses together when Grace leans over to me and quietly asks, "Are you okay??" I look at her, looking up from the glass I'm collecting, and ask, "Couldn't you have warned me??"

She says, "Sorry, I completely forgot about that." Deep in thought, I accidentally grab the largest piece of glass by mistake and cut my hand without even noticing. I still haven't noticed and continue collecting glass, deep in thought. I finish collecting everything and throw it in the trash.As I turn toward the dining room and am about to sit down at the table, Grace says, "Min Lee...your hand." I say, "Huh??" Grace comes over to me and points at my hand. I finally notice that it's bleeding and say, "Oh...I didn't even notice." 

Grace pulls me over to the sink and starts rinsing my hand. After a moment, when the bleeding has mostly stopped, Grace grabs a towel and tries to wrap it around my arm, but I pull my arm away and say, "Thanks, it'll be fine."I sit down at the table and Grace does the same. Minho says, "Let me put it in for you, princess." I smile and let him put my food in, trying not to look at Jungkook. Minho puts my food in and I start eating, just like the others.
