(Uh oh the title said it all)
The storm outside was a reflection of Sasuke's mind—violent and unrelenting. The closed window muffled the world, but the rumble of thunder still reverberated through the room. Chakra ropes bound his wrists, tightening mercilessly each time he struggled against them. Rain hammered the glass like sharp, unforgiving needles, a constant reminder of his confinement.
Sasuke sat motionless, his hollow eyes fixed on the floor. He hadn't eaten in three days, surviving only on the water Itachi was allowed to bring him. Food came from another ANBU, an impersonal transaction that stripped away even the smallest comfort.
It was the first day of the second week of October. Sasuke's body was failing him—his legs too weak to stand, let alone carry him to freedom. Running was a distant memory, a hope crushed beneath the weight of his despair.
"I wonder what Sakura and Naruto are up to... I want to go back to Sakura... to that dobe... I never really thought I'd miss them this much.." sasuke mumbled to himself...
MEANWHILE—
"It's been three days! DAMMIT! WHO KNOWS WHAT THOSE BASTARDS ARE UP TO? WE CAN'T JUST SIT AROUND!" Naruto roared, punching a nearby tree with enough force to splinter the bark. Blood dripped from his knuckles, only to evaporate moments later as the Kyuubi's chakra healed him.
"Calm down, Naruto..." Sakura said, her tone steady but her fists trembling. She was trying her hardest not to let her strength get the better of her and uproot a tree out of sheer frustration.
Tsunade approached them, her expression unreadable as she adjusted her cloak. "Kids, I've contacted Jiraiya... and—never mind that for now. All you need to know is that we're heading back to the Hidden Leaf immediately," she announced.
Her voice carried authority as she continued. "We'll be sprinting there to make it within 25 hours. We'll take five breaks—one every five hours. If anyone feels exhausted, I'll share my chakra. Jiraiya and I have come up with a plan, and we'll reach the Hidden Leaf by dawn tomorrow. The plan begins the day after. Got it?"
Naruto's fists clenched tighter, his eyes blazing with determination. "It's going to be tough, but Sasuke... who knows what he's been through? Danzo and his men probably aren't treating him any better than dirt. Damn that bastard Danzo!" His voice cracked at the end, anger and worry warring within him.
Tsunade's gaze softened momentarily before landing on Sakura, who had been gathering their belongings. Just the day before, while scouting half a kilometer from their current location, she had found her bag lying abandoned near a clearing. Now, she pulled out two black cloaks—the same ones they had worn when they left the village.
She handed one to Naruto, who swung it over his shoulders, zipping up his jacket and ruffling his hair. The second cloak lay neatly folded in her hands—Sasuke's...
She swung her own cloak on and let the warmth of the fabric provide comfort to her.
Sakura hesitated, her fingers lingering on the fabric. Memories of Sasuke wearing it flashed through her mind, his scowl masking emotions he rarely let show. With a deep breath, she carefully tucked the cloak into her bag, keeping it safe for him.
"We've grown a lot since those months in the Hidden Mist," Naruto muttered as he adjusted his cloak.
Tsunade's sharp voice broke the moment. "Save the reflection for later. Move out."
Without another word, she darted forward, her speed unmatched. Naruto and Sakura followed close behind, their footsteps pounding the forest floor.
Five hours into their journey, they stopped for their first break in a quiet clearing. The air was tense as they leaned against trees, catching their breath.
