Sakura was worrying more than she should. About a kilometer away from the southern gate, she paced in circles, her breath ragged. Her boots and shorts were damp from the rain, and her cloak ruffled in the wind, shielding the top she wore underneath from the downpour. The hood had slipped off, leaving her pink hair wet and clinging to her face. Naruto, similarly drenched except for his top, stood nearby, watching her with concern.

She clutched her bag tightly, eventually sitting down on a damp wooden log. Then, she felt it—a flicker of familiar chakra. Her head snapped up as her senses sharpened. It was Sasuke's chakra. Relief and urgency flooded her as she spotted Shizune running toward them, followed closely by Orochimaru and Sasuke.

Without hesitation, Sakura pulled another black cloak from her bag and bolted toward them, Naruto following closely behind. Sasuke slowed from a sprint to a walk, his steps heavy but steady. Sakura couldn't hold back anymore. She threw herself at him, wrapping her arms tightly around him.

"Oh, thank God! You're okay! When I woke up and you were gone, I couldn't... I couldn't help you—I—I'm so sorry! I... I've been so usele—"

"You're not. Don't say that," Sasuke interrupted, his voice low but firm as he covered her mouth with his hand. "We stood no chance anyway."

Sakura blinked in surprise, then brushed it off and hugged him again, burying her face in his chest. This time, he hugged her back, his chin resting lightly on her head. She could feel him breathe deeply, as though grounding himself in her presence. When she finally pulled away, she swung the black cloak over his shoulders, fastening it carefully. The emblem of Team 7 glistened faintly in the dim light.

"I'm home, Sakura. Naruto," Sasuke said softly, his gaze shifting between them, his expression uncharacteristically tender.

"TEME! YOU HAD US ALL WORRIED!" Naruto shouted, charging toward Sasuke. He tackled him to the ground, fists ready to swing. But Sasuke made no effort to block or resist. Instead, he lay there, his arms limp at his sides, a small, tired smirk on his face.

Naruto faltered. "Tch, I'm letting you go just because your chakra's depleted!" he huffed, sticking out his tongue before climbing off Sasuke.

As Sasuke sat up, Sakura joined them, standing beside him. She exchanged a glance with him before they both turned to Naruto, their expressions softening.

"Happy birthday, Naruto," they said in unison. Sasuke reached into his cloak and handed Naruto a small, carefully wrapped gift.

"You guys... remembered?" Naruto's voice cracked as he bit his lip, trying to hold back tears. He clutched the gift tightly, his shoulders trembling.

Unable to contain his emotions, Naruto lunged forward, pulling both Sakura and Sasuke into a tight hug. "Thank you! You guys are the best, ya know!" he said, his voice breaking as tears streamed down his cheeks. He held them as if he never wanted to let go.

When the hug finally broke, Sakura stepped forward and placed something around Naruto's neck. A simple necklace with a small pendant hung from it. Naruto opened the pendant to find a tiny picture of Team 7 on one side and a portrait of Hinata on the other. His cheeks turned a deep red as he glanced at Sakura, who gave him a playful wink.

"The gift is from Hinata," Sasuke said, smirking as he gestured toward the cloth neatly wrapped in Naruto's hands.

Naruto fumbled with the ribbon, unwrapping it to reveal a beautiful red scarf. Although it was damp from the rain, Naruto didn't care. A small note fluttered out, and he picked it up, reading it aloud:

--

Happy Birthday, Naruto-kun. I'm looking forward to seeing you soon. I hope you liked the scarf... I knitted it myself. Please return home soon, and I know you probably won't until you're a full-fledged shinobi. So, be one quickly. I'm always waiting for you.
