"Just 10 more," Sasuke said, his voice calm, as stoic as ever.
"I-I can't-It's-" Sakura's arms trembled violently. "I already did plenty-my hands-urgh!"
"CMON!! SAKURA-CHAN!!" Naruto's voice rang out like a cheerleader's, trying to boost her spirits.
"Ten."
"UrghH!" Sakura growled, forcing her arms to push her body up into a standing position, sweat dripping down her brow, then forcing a pushup
"Nine."
"CHA!!" she yelled, trying to push through the pain.
By the time they reached five, Sakura was utterly exhausted. Her limbs felt like they were weighed down by boulders.
"I can't!" Sakura shouted, her voice wavering with frustration.
"Four."
"SHANAROOO!!" she bellowed, her fiery determination igniting again.
"Three."
No... I can't...
"Two."
I... I have no strength left...
Sasuke crouched down beside her, his dark eyes locking onto hers. "Are you going to let them call you useless again?" he said quietly, his words cutting through her thoughts like a sharp blade.
Sakura shut her eyes tightly, mustering every last bit of strength. She let out a final, fierce "SHANAROOO!!" as she pushed herself off the ground, collapsing onto the dirt, completely spent.
"GREAT JOB, SAKURA-CHAN!!" Naruto cheered, his enthusiasm unrelenting as Sakura lay there, panting, her body aching. Naruto and Sasuke had finished their sets twenty minutes earlier, yet here they were, waiting for her to finish.
Sasuke glanced at the darkening sky. "It's 8 PM. Let's go."
"TO THE HOT SPRINGS!!" Naruto exclaimed, bouncing up and down like an overexcited child. Sakura groaned as she dragged herself to her feet, her legs and hands feeling like jelly. She walked slowly, positioning herself between Naruto and Sasuke, her exhaustion evident.
"I'M SOOO EXHAUSTEDDDD!" Naruto whined dramatically, stretching out his words. The yawn he gave was clearly forced, and Sakura rolled her eyes. *How could someone like him ever get tired with that bottomless well of energy?*
But then, Sakura looked ahead and her spirits dropped even further.
"The sad part is... the hot springs are up there." She pointed, her finger aimed at the steep incline of a mountain. The hot springs sat high on top, barely visible but unmistakable.
