The attic was dark, damp, and cold. There were so many things there but none could be useful. It was such a nightmare, especially with the little to no ventilation and the noises of rats and mice. There were spider webs at the corners of the room that were left by the owners, leaving only dead insects stuck on the sticky trap. The strongly funky, stinky smell indicated the presence of mold on the walls and the amount of dust bulking on the old furniture.
Just a few moments ago, the four tween girls were sleeping over in Jennie's holiday house. Jennie's parents were out of town for a business trip. Neither of the girls went on vacation, so they decided it would be nice to just sleep over together in Jennie's house. They promised their own parents to be nice and do well together. Their needs were also tended by Jennie's maids.
But that night, all of her helpers were asleep and her guards were busy securing the house from the outside.
Maybe, a tween girls sleepover wasn't a very good idea.
Jennie and her friends were bored. "We've done everything, basically," said Jennie. They already gossiped, spilling every mess from their school and even other schools. They already cooked some stuff and gardened together. They already did skincare and make-up together. They already played countless card games and board games. They already watched movies and did karaoke and tons of TikTok videos. They made a whole Youtube vlog together. It had already been a week since they lived together. They made all sorts of crafts. What they haven't done together might be easier to list than what they have done.
"Ugh, I'm so bored!" Lisa grunted. She slammed her phone on the bed. She was sick of scrolling on Instagram.
"I got an idea!" Jisoo said all in a sudden.
"Give it up, Soo-ah," replied Chaeyoung, not putting her 'Hunger Games' novel. "We might make trouble if we actually follow your idea."
"Whatever you mean by that," sighed Jisoo as she rolled her eyes.
"Yeah... Didn't you try to bake a cake using the fireplace just an hour ago?" said Lisa.
"I saw the tutorial on Youtube! It's possible! Don't we do Science experiments in this way all the time at school?" Jisoo complained.
"It's at school. Plus, we're not in a lab with anyone to look over us," replied Jennie, trying to be responsible and sensible. "Besides, that fireplace hasn't been turned on in decades, we literally use the heater nowadays."
"Whatever."
"But, let's try to give her a chance, I guess," added Lisa, trying to ease the situation as she saw Jisoo pouting. She knew that Jisoo might cause even more problems if she weren't given a chance. "What's your idea?"
"Finally, someone with common sense!" Jisoo squealed a little. "Let's go to the attic!"
"What?!" The other three girls shouted.
"Look, it's just an attic, nothing could ever go wrong, right?"
Apparently, everything could go wrong.
After Jisoo begged and tried to convince the girls, on her knees and with a promise of not giving any other weird ideas for the rest of the stay, they went to the attic. Armed with only their phones, the four used their flashlight to seek the attic and enter it. But as predicted before, it was in fact a horrible idea.
"This is your attic? Quite interesting," commented Lisa. "I thought there would be a jacuzzi lying somewhere but this feels oddly... regular."
"What do you take me as?" Jennie scoffed, slightly offended.
"Chill, your house is luxurious. It would make sense to have an insanely huge and full of treasures attic. But this is quite the opposite of that, like it's tiny and a little cramped with very normal stuff too, so it makes you and your family a little... real and warm," said Chaeyoung. "Now, where is the light switch?"
