"We never had a carnival date," replied Jisoo in excitement, her eyes wide full of joy. "Oh this is going to be so much fun!"
Just a minute earlier, Chaeyoung handed two tickets to go to the new carnival that just opened down town. Chaeyoung was supposed to go to the carnival that night, but apparently Lisa's family had other plans and invited her and Lisa to eat dinner together. Therefore, their date ticket could not be used and Chaeyoung just handed them to the couple who were busy washing dishes and flipping burgers behind their dorm kitchen counter.
"Oh my God! I've never even rode a merry-go-round~"
"Wait. Really?" Chaeyoung asked, her eyebrows slightly raised, in shock.
"Yeah. When I was little, my mom wouldn't let me go to arcades or carnivals, and whenever we did-which was only once when I was eight and once when I was nine-I was only allowed to play the dart game and Dance Dance Revolution."
"That's crazy," replied Lisa. "Anyways, have fun, you two."
"Thanks, girl. You two have fun too." Jennie gave Chaeyoung and Lisa a wicked but funny grin. She knew they were definitely not going to have fun with Lisa's family gathering.
Chaeyoung and Lisa rolled their eyes and gave Jennie middle fingers before leaving the dorm for the other lovebirds to continue their slow Saturday morning.
Jennie chuckled softly, her heart fluttering at the sight of Jisoo's childlike excitement. She pocketed the tickets and gave Jisoo a quick squeeze on the shoulder.
"Then it's decided! We're going to have the best carnival date ever," Jennie declared, a grin spreading across her face.
After finishing up their chores, they grabbed their jackets and headed out, their anticipation growing with every step. As Jennie drove her convertible, Jisoo was feeling the wind blowing her hair and how the evening sky glow tinted their skin orange.
The streets were bustling with evening life, and the air carried the faint scent of popcorn and fried treats. As they approached the carnival, Jisoo's grip on Jennie's hand tightened.
"This is it," Jisoo whispered, her voice filled with awe.
But as they turned the corner, their excitement turned to dismay. The two followed the queue, waiting in the line patiently. However, when their turn finally came, the cashier at the counter just smiled at the couple, although her eyes suggested an awful news.
"Thank you for your anticipation, however, I regret to tell you that these tickets are invalid."
"How come?!" Jisoo was utterly devastated. "There's no way these tickets are invalid."
"I'm sorry, Miss. These tickets have expired since they were booked more than 24 hours ago."
Jisoo looked at her tickets. The cashier was right. They didn't realize if they arrived just fifteen minutes earlier, they could've been in the carnival. Jisoo was so disappointed at herself for not reading the terms and conditions on those tickets.
Jennie groaned softly, while Jisoo pouted.
"Nooo, we came all this way..."
Jennie glanced at Jisoo's disappointed expression. "Can't we just buy two tickets right now?"
"Sorry, but those direct tickets can only be bought with the VIP pass, in which to get the VIP pass, you must be a loyal customer who has at least visited our carnival five times."
Jennie bit her lips. She saw Jisoo's blank stare and realized she had to act fast. Suddenly, an idea of a backup plan appeared in her head. Her lips curved into a mischievous smile.
