"Truth or dare?"
"Dare," said Jennie.
It was quite shocking. Jennie was not quite the risk taker. However, that night, she was a little different. She was cold, cunning, and careless. So, that night in the girls sleepover with her friends, Chaeyoung, Lisa, Jeongyeon, and Nayeon, where they stayed at Yeri's house, Jennie picked dare on a truth or dare game.
"Well." Her friends had that look on their faces. They all seemed uncertain on how to respond. "Honestly, I don't think any of us prepared for dares, because... yeah..."
Jennie smirked a little.
"But, I do." Yeri wiped off the smirk on Jennie's face with an even more devilish smile. "Have you ever said 'I love you' to any girls other than your friends?"
Jennie bit her lower lips. She thought to herself she really shouldn't have done that, regretting her decisions. She sighed and shook her head, signaling an answer that she never did so. Jennie did flirt casually with everyone, but never with anyone that she didn't consider her friends. She just couldn't bare the embarrassment.
Yeri looked at Jennie with a terrifying gaze. "Okay, call someone we know and say 'I love you' to them then we listen to their reaction and hang up."
With a pang in her heart, Jennie agreed. "If anything happens, I refuse to-"
"Wait, Yeri, isn't your older sister in the room next to us?" Nayeon asked suddenly. A horrifying idea formed in her head. She shot a look towards Jennie.
"Yep, why?"
"I mean it's much more fun if it was done to someone we can watch the live reaction to right away." Nayeon grinned from ear to ear, like the grinch. "Don't you think so, girls?"
Small excited squeals filled the room.
"Jisoo is literally so nonchalant and cold to anyone but funny and warm once we get to know her, and considering Jennie is the only one in this room who doesn't know Jisoo that well, this could be a start of a blooming friendship," replied Chaeyoung.
Lisa and Jeongyeon were busy laughing, imagining the interaction.
Jennie gulped. She never thought it would go this far. Well, in their defense, no one in that room knew she actually had a crush on Jisoo except for Yeri and Nayeon. So, she just agreed like a lamb being led to oblivion by a pack of wolves.
"Okay, so let's go to her room, but only Jennie goes to knock, and we can watch from behind," said Lisa, excited enough to then stand behind the door.
Jennie stood up slowly, as if every movement cost her a breath of courage. Her hands were cold. Her knees? Maybe trembling—she couldn't tell anymore, too focused on the blood rushing in her ears like thunder.
"You guys are evil," she muttered under her breath.
"Oh, darling, we are," Yeri said cheerfully, already tugging the rest of the girls into a silent flurry behind the hallway wall like a pack of giggling spies. Chaeyoung held her phone up like a periscope, ready to record the chaos.
Jennie walked alone down the hallway of Yeri's house. Every step echoed more than it should've. She paused outside the guest bedroom—Jisoo's room for the night. The door was cracked slightly, light spilling out across the hardwood. She could hear her mumbling some songs—that somehow they shared a liking towards.
Jennie inhaled, held it, and then gently knocked.
A pause.
There were noises of headphones being put down on the desk while Jisoo was frantically getting up from her gaming chair.
