"Congratulations to our final three winners in the 2024 Georgia STEM competition. Clap it up for Daniel Escobar and Angelo Williams, Sergio Alexandre and Yuri Hemdanna, and Jennifer Hudson and Omarion Leakes!" The host of the STEM competition announced
Everyone clapped for us, I lightly clapped while turning to look at Sergio because I felt a little awkward with a bunch of people looking at me
There wasn't a ranking of first, second, third, just the final three winners but I didn't care about that because I just wanted the money. Since I had a full ride scholarship, the money was literally all mine
The crowd was very full above us, the stands being like a football game or something
My parents, siblings, and our friends were in attendance. Khao, his father figure but not his dad, his sister Jordyn, and their other siblings were there as well... also his mom but he wasn't that happy
He didn't tell me much about his siblings or Khao but I had met his sister of course, my nerves were about to worsen from the spotlight to the fact I was about to meet his dad, mom, and siblings
"These lucky winners with be granted with a large sum of financial aid grant, clap it up once more for them, whoo-hoo!"
The crowed clapped again for us before we were able to leave from the stage, but the winners had to head to the back to sign papers
It may have been doing too much but I read through the papers before signing them and had to snap pictures
"Thank you guys so much for your talents and your creativity throughout these months, we're proud of you." One of the judges congratulated us and the others co-signed
We all thanked them back, then were able to get to our families. Before going back, we all received medals
I spoke to my family and friends, but he wanted me to come with him to his family
"Who this is?" His father figure, Khao said when we walked up together, his arm around my waist
"Righttt." His mom agreed, drinking from her Yeti cup, gotta be some liquor in there
"My girlfriend, Yuri." He introduced me to them
"Hiii." I waved at them with a smile, trying not to be shy
"Why she talk like that? Ain't she from Atlanta?" His mom said with a mug, making my smile fade away
