"States champion, winning the all around gold medal with a score of 117.75, Yuri Hemdanna."
Yuri stepped up to the first place platform of the podium, she wore a gold medal around her neck in her gymnastics uniform. She also received flowers that she held in her arm
The huge gymnasium clapped for her as they did for the rest of winning contestants, she smiled and waved as she felt so accomplished
The moment was being recorded by many in the crowd and by cameramen. All gymnasts were congratulated and praised
America's national anthem played as the three gymnasts posted for their pictures to be taken
All departed when they were finished to head to their families. Yuri's parents, grandparents, siblings, close friends, and her boyfriend had all came to see her compete. They all were waiting for her to come out to congratulate
When she approached them on the floor of the building, they all smiled and she was walking up awkwardly
"Thank you, guyssss." She thanked them for congratulating her as she went in to side hug Sergio first
Their hug turned into a full hug as he handed her a bouquet of chrysanthemums and a small 4x4 box
Her family and friends were awing which made them both so shy, all of her family except her dad of course. He just stood there with his arms crossed
"Awww, I appreciate you." She refrained from kissing him in front of her family
When she opened the box it revealed a card that fit inside that read "Congratulations, baby." when she moved the card, there was a bracelet
It was a pretty bracelet, the clasp was a small black girl gymnast doing a scissors leap
At first she didn't see it, just thinking it was a bracelet but when she seen that the clasp was a gymnast and not just a hook her mouth fell open
"This is so nice and thoughtful."
"Lemme put it on you." He said before quickly putting on you
Yuri planned to thank him even more later but didn't want the spotlight on them, she knew he didn't want it on them either
He stepped back with his homeboys as she talked to her family members and their friends
"You ain't forgot about your gift?" Her dad asked her, she shook her head no
"You know I ain't about to forget about no gift." She said while already starting to mess with her bracelet. The statement was dead serious though, she loved gifts
Her grandparents also mentioned gifts they had to give her after giving her hugs, saying how proud they were
Her friends also congratulated her, speaking about the whole competition and how they were on their toes
