Chapter 49

Few days past since that night with her up deck. No matter how tired I was from the day, i always went to the deck just incase she'd be there.

Its weird, I see her while I eat, and when Im walking around the sunny during the day. We even talk or play games with Usopp and chopper if I'm lucky.

But it doesn't feel the same as when I see her at night, in the moons light.

Its like she's more herself then.

Its quiet and it's calm, two things that I didn't exactly like.

She said she changed a lot, I guess I have too. She makes me like the quieter moments, the ones where we barely talk...

And... When I can be a bit closer to her.

"Luffy, go get y/n for me real quick", my head snaps toward Nami before I nod quickly and get up to carry out her order. I forgot to ask her why, didn't really matter.

I could see her.

I knocked on the door to the girls rooms, the knocking repeated in an excited rhythm of 4 knocks.

I could see her.

"Luffy?", I stood straighter once I heard her voice, my hand scruffed my fringe as I tried to hold in my excitement. How did she know it was me?

"Yeah...", my feet tapped onto the floorboards impatiently as I waited for her to open the door or invite me in.

"You can come in.", she sounded amused, making me inhale deeply.

Prepare yourself.

For what?

Dunno.

The door crept open, my head peeking through to catch a glimpse of her.

She sat at the edge of her bed with a smile on her face, tilting her head in the same direction I tilted mine with an incoming laugh, soft and genuine.

Fuck..

I stepped into the room, stiffly upright. "Nami.", that's all I thought to say, my eyes locking on hers as if I wanted her to read my mind on what I meant.

"She needs me?", she stood up and I nodded, wondering how she always did that.

How she always knew.

She nods and shares a smile with me before she walks past me, the soft scent of blossoms following after her like a path I was supposed to follow.

So I did, my steps catching up to hers quickly, closely beside her now.

She turns to me and I physically feel my chest tighten even before our eyes meet. "What did Nami need?", she asks softly and slowly, her voice never harsh, the same for her words.

"Didn't ask, my bad", she chuckles and nods before she looked forward again, suddenly regretting that I didn't ask, maybe her attention would still be on me if I did.

"She wasn't angry though so I doubt it's anything bad", I suddenly blurt out and she turns back to me with that same smile.

"I figured, she only lectures me when I'm hurt.", she squints her eyes as she grins and I do the same without thinking. "Chopper said my devil fruit must give me healing properties, since my rib healed within weeks.", it was a random set of words so I blink a few times, processing it.

Once it clicked my eyes widen like headlights.

"THAT'S SO COOL.", she huffs in triumph as her hand swipes over her nose in a cocky way, my smile widening at the change in her attitude.
