"I thought about, you know, reminding you in case you forgot."
I thought a million toothpicks were stabbing me all at once. How did I completely forget about that bet?
Would telling him about sharing dorms with Jungkook really be much of a dark secret? I suppose he does have the reputation.
And out of all the times that Cha Eun woo has catched a sight of Jungkook, it would be whenever he had a grumpy or threatening look on his face.
His knowledge on Jungkook, mainly, is that he bullies (bullied) me. So yeah, telling him that secret would be scary.
"Um.. well.."
Seriously? What is wrong with me? He has the right to know, but why am I hesitating?
My brain was closing in on itself as I didn't have the words to tell him. There was another long, thick gap of silence, which felt heavier than if it were in person.
"My secret..."
Come on, Y/n, just tell him!
The clocks in my brain were ticking of how long this silence—which was getting unbearable—had been going on for.
Am I just worried he won't like me as a friend anymore? Just for sharing a room with my bully?
A lot of the sensible boys in the school know his cold, ruthless personality, and probably have seen him pull his scumy shenanigans on me every day.
They probably all see him as a monster who's rich and spoilt and preys on people (me). Right now, Jungkook is just a door beside my head, patiently waiting for me to jump into bed with him. Kiss and cuddle me, maybe. That would be nice..
I figured I remained speechless for too long, and was ready to deliver the words to his ear.
"My roommate is Jun... wait a minute. Are you there?"
"Yeah. I'm still here."
Something felt off. "You.. don't sound like Cha Eun woo."
"Haha. That's funny. What were about to say?"
Just then, I heard the faint sound of another voice emerge at a lower frequency. It was Cha Eun woo in the background.
"Hey! What are you doing with my phone?"
A whole back-and-forth was going on through the speaker. The person I was just talking to was Cha Eun woo's room-mate who just swiped his phone and dialled my number.
The fuck?? How did I not notice? Not only that, I was literally about to spill a secret to a rando in my grade!
By the muffled sound, I could tell that Cha Eun woo managed to grab his phone back as his handsome, proper voice transmitted through the speaker to my ear.
"Hello? Y/n? Are you still there?"
I couldn't prevent myself from smiling. Mainly in relief, but also just because it was funny.
"Yeah."
"I'm deeply sorry about that. I was in the bathroom having a shower and my room-mate just stole my phone. Are you okay?"
"Yeah."
"He didn't say anything to you, did he?"
"Some. But, nothing inappropriate."
I could then hear him sigh in a huge relief with a little warm chuckle at the end. "That's good. But, what did he say?"
My teeth grabbed a chunk of my lip in an oh-god-I-am-doomed kind of way.
