Knowing

I laid there with my eyes closed. All I could see was darkness as my mind stayed quiet. I don't know how long I've been laying here. I'm not sure if I passed out or if I am just staying still without any knowledge of the time passing. My body felt numb but in a strangely good way. I could feel nothing, see nothing, hear nothing, and it slightly frightened me. I slowly began to force my eyes open. As my eyes began to open, all my sense came back to me. My body was on the hard ground and my muscles ached but I could feel them slowly healing. My head rested against something soft that was slightly shifting under me, as if uncomfortable. I could hear voices echo all around me as it might in dream. They were in hushed tones but they seemed upset with each other.

"We have to be more careful." Said Evan

"I agree. We can't let them get a hold on Ginelle. They'll force her to marry in their favor." Said Gabe

"Luke surely wasn't helping" sighed James

I could hear a slight muffled voice.

"Shut it you. I was this close to losing my best friend" Growled Savi "Demon or not. I like her better the way she was."

"What do you think that light was?" Said Gabe

"I'm not sure. I think it came from her heart or maybe her soul." Said Evan

"No. I would be able to tell if it were. It was something else." Said James

I slightly groaned as I opened my eyes and all of then jumped slightly. They seemed to tense up as they watched me. I could feel someone's hands tighten around me as if securing me in place. I slowly look around to see James leaning up against a tree besides Luke who was tied to it in a rope of feathers. Savi was holding my sword and hugged it protectively. I looked up to see Gabe who had been holding me down.

"What.....where......how long was I out?" I asked unsure of what to ask first

They all relaxed and James let out a sigh of relief. Gabe loosened her grip on me. She gently helped me up with a smile.

"It hasn't been too long. You've been out for about twenty minutes now" smiled Evan

"How do you feel?" Asked James

"Sore." I replied as rubbed my aching mustles.

Evan walked over and gently rubbed my shoulders "better?"

I sigh happily "much better. Thanks Evan"

He smiled as he kept massaging my shoulders "no problem. Any time"

James cleared his throat "Right. So Gienelle do you remember anything about what happened?"

Slightly dazed from relaxing into Evan's massage I replied "sorta....its all kinda fuzzy"

Savi said "You sure you don't remember anything."

I closed my eyes and began to remember slowly. Tears filled my eyes and I wept for my fallen friends. I could feel Evan's gentle hands stop as he gently wrapped his arms around me. Everyone was dying because of me....because I won't hurry up and marry one of them, but how can I decide something as complicated as love? How can I decide something as important as the future of humanity?
