Falling for them all

The Nightmare

Alex was standing a few feet away from me, looking down at the ground and his usual brown hair looked as if it was fading away and sticking to his face. He was wearing a regular old t-shirt and a pair of jeans. That is kind of odd since he usually likes to dress nicely. As I walk closer to him I noticed that he was clutching his side and I see blood seeping through his shirt. He was drenched In sweat and looked as If he went swimming with his clothes on. I wanted to run to him to make sure that he was ok, although for some reason I just kept walking at a steady pace.

As Alex took notice of my presence he began to scream out of fear "Stay away from me! Why are you doing this!? You would never do such a thing!"

What are you talking about!? Those were the words I wanted to say but instead I said "Why you ask? The only reason why is because its fun! If you thought I would never do this then you were dead wrong. What do you really know about me huh? Forget about what you thought you knew."

He was trembling and looked at me with sad eyes. There was someone standing right behind me, but I couldn't turn around to see who it was. I could tell it was a man because of his voice "Would you like to do the honors or should I? "

I laughed and said "I think I should do it since he was my childhood friend and first love."

The man passed me a sword with a cross carved into the blade and a pair of x's crossing eachother on the handle. I ran my fingers up the blade. Alex was horrified and tried to run away, but with four steps he collapsed on the ground. I walk over and raise my sword above him. I tell him my final good-bye and I trust my sword at him.

I hear the door bell ring and jolt awake. I was covered in beads of sweat. I breathed a sigh of relief that it was only a dream. I realized I was still clutching my necklace and l let go. I look at my hand and see red marks from holding it so tight. I wonder what made me have such a dream. Mark got up and ran towards the door and barked a couple times before siting down. He was watching the door with intense concentration. I got up from the couch and stretched then I went to go get the money for the pizza. After I paid, Mark sat down on the couch again and I put the pizza on the kitchen table and went to the bathroom to go splash cold water on my face. I stood in front of the mirror before returning to the kitchen. When I sat down at the table I was about reach for a slice of pizza when I heard the door bell ring again. I went to go open the door and was surprised to see Alex with a big smile on his face. I just stood there like an idiot and was unsure what I should say because it felt kind of weird that I just had a dream about him and a few minutes before and then a few minutes later there he was ringing my door bell.

 "Alex? What are you doing here?" Was all I could manage too say.

Alex's smile turned into a playful frown and said "Hey now. What kind of greeting is that? Geez, I walked all the way over here hoping for a warm welcome." He hugged himself and continued with is complaints. "You were suppose to hug me tightly and tell me how happy you were to see me!"

Alex always joked around like that. I gave him a smile, rolled my eyes and just to entertain his thought went over and hugged him as hard as I could. "Oh Alex, its so good to see you again! I missed you so much! I'm glad you stopped by!" I said in a teasing voice.

When I let go he looked shocked, I realized I had always been teased by him but I never did anything. I would always just ignore what he said and move our conversation along. I must be sick or something.

Alex cleared his throat and said "So you're going to tease me back now? Well I can't accept that now can I?"

He grabbed my chin and pulled me closer to him. His face was so close to mine that I could feel his warm breath. I could feel my face getting flushed. He opened his mouth to speak, but then we heard growling. We turn to see Mark in his attack position. He began barking and charged at Alex. He let go of my chin and jumped back. He held up his hand and tried to calm him down.

 Alex spoke slowly "Hey Mark! Look I was just messing around. You know I would never do anything to G right?"

Mark gave one more bark then sat down. He had his eyes glued to Alex. I always thought it was so cute when Mark went into guard dog mode.

I laughed and said "You did a good job Mark! You're such a good boy!"

I went over and hugged him. I kept praising him and gave him a kiss on his head. When I looked up at Alex he looked annoyed and had his hand on his head. I always praised Mark when he gets mad at Alex for teasing me. I finally invited Alex inside and lead him into the kitchen. We ate pizza together and just talked until my parents got home. I never really understood why they were fine with Alex and I being alone in the house, but if it was someone else then I would get into huge trouble. Well maybe it's just because we have been friends with his family for years.

I got ready for bed, but as soon as I was about to climb into bed my phone vibrated. I walked over and checked my messages. It was from Alex and it read:

Today was fun!! Hope you have sweet dreams! Night! :)

I smiled and replied:

You too! C ya tomorrow! Night!
