Falling for them all

Evan princess carried me as we walked through the forest. We couldn't risk flying for fear of being seen. I had my head resting against his chest and my eyes were still teary. Savi was helping James drag an irritated Luke beside us. Gabe walked up ahead of us leading us to where she thought it would be safe.

"So this is what's left us. So few compared to how many we started with" I whispered with tears starting anew.

"Shhhh.....everything is going to turn out OK....I promise you.." Said Evan as he held me closer to him in an attempt to comfort me.

"I just wish....there was more that I could've done!" I said wiping away tears.

"This isn't your fault Gienelle. There wasn't anything else you could've done" said Gabe

I shook my head "No! I know there was something I could've done! Something that would prevent everyone from dying! Cam.....Mark.....Vincent...and Alex...."

"Stop it. Just stop. Its all in the past. Its not like we can go back and time. Gienelle don't dwell too much on the past." Said Savi

James nodded "Savi is right Gienelle. Just try and relax."

Luke grunted something as if reluctantly agreeing with James. I stayed quiet from then on. We all stayed silent aside from the grunts from Luke and our footsteps. I looked up at the sky and recited quietly an old poem I remembered.

"Love? I know not of it,
A natural human emotion,
One that causes tears,
Both for joy and sadness...."
I raised my hand up as if reaching for the heavens and continued as they watched me curiously.
"Rules of love,
To stay loyal...
Love one soul alone..
Touch in lust one soul alone..
To trust one another,"
I turned my hand over and stared at my palm as Evan looked down at me with a worried expression on his face.
"Confide in the other,
As if a human journal..
Sharing their emotions,
Experiences..and problems,"
I bring down my hand and placed my arm over my eyes and sighed while Gabe and Savi listened to my voice intently.
"Two simple rules...
Easily kept,
But temptation of others,
Drives soulmates apart,
Fantasies never acheived,
Someone is left broken,
Internally or externally,"
James looked as if he wanted to interrupt me but decided against it and let me continue. I slightly began to tear up again as I spoke the last of the poem.
"Wishing to turn back...
The time they once had,
Love? I know not of it,
Relationships everywhere,
Why bother with it?
Love..... I know not of it"

James hesitated a moment before saying "That was....sadly beautiful"

Evan rubbed my arm and said "indeed it was.... I'm sorry there's nothing that I could do for you Gen"

"Its an old poem I read somewhere." I replied

"Just remember what we said earlier Gienelle...... Don't dwell on it" said Gabe looking back at me with sympathy in her eyes. I looked at her and forced myself to nod.

"Because in think all of us want to turn back the time we once had" said Savi

We remained silent the rest of the way.
