Elva, the witch, worked on James while Sky re-explained everything from before. After James, it was my turn. I watched my nose as the white fur turned red and black.

The witch left after that and Sky finished explaining things she had forgotten. “The King will be highly guarded. Some guards will be werewolves who joined out of fear for their lives. Upon his death they may attack you or the vampires. Whatever you do don’t kill them. The werewolf population is low enough without any more deaths.”

We both agreed with the terms.

Daniel spoke up from his spot on a couch. “You have to remember to only speak over your mate bond. I don’t want those other werewolves suspecting you.”

I nodd. ‘I know Daniel. Are we ready to go?’

Daniel sighed and looked at Sky. She smiled. “You guys should do well. I pray the plan works so that the werewolves can finally have peace again. While you are gone I will be fighting again. Another fight is in the south between vamps and werewolves. You can call me or Daniel if anything happens. Good luck.”

Sky placed a disposable phone in James’s hand and left.

Daniel got up. “I have one of my spies outside waiting in a SUV for you guys. He will be your escort till you’re at the stronghold. Be wary of anyone and everyone. Good luck to both of you.”

We both nodded. James picked up the backpack full of stuff and I followed him out of the house. He opened the back door of the SUV for me to hop in. She shut the door behind me and got in the shotgun seat.

The driver was a young man that smelled vampire. I wrinkled up my nose and laid on the seat with my head on my paws.

James looked back at me as the vehicle started to move. “You comfortable?”

I nodded. ‘Yes, I don’t like that we’re with a vampire on a mission to kill the vampire king but otherwise I’m fine.’

James chuckled. “I think it will be fine.” He turned to the driver. “What’s your name?”

The vampire smiled. “Vance. And I understand why you ask. You’re probably thinking that I can’t be trusted. Personally, I dislike my own kind. Killing and feeding on humans isn’t right. I’m with the rebellion for this reason. Anyways the vamp that calls himself king is only a kid. No kid should rule and no vampire should take something that isn’t there’s to take.”

James smiled at me and I shook my head. James laughed. “Well my mate thought it ironic considering our mission but now I understand you.”

Vance laughed. “Yeah Daniel thought it would be humorous. Well we have a three hour trip ahead of us before we get to the Castle of Demitri Cane. His royal highness likes to keep his castle protected with mutts. I feel bad for the creatures he has there. Well you’ll see why.”

James frowned and I shook my head. ‘Does that mean he will want something done with me or are we going to kill him before that happens?’

James looked at me. “I won’t let that vamp hurt you. We will finish the mission before he can get the chance. Then Daniel or an Alpha can take the Dark World crown again and we will have peace.”

Vance agreed. “Then maybe we can get some vampires to agree on animal feeding. Personally its not as good as human but better for moral thoughts.” He chuckled and turned to look at me.

Instead of the normal blood red eyes that most vampires have his eyes were brownish red. I was surprised. But agreed all the same.

‘I’ve never had to feed off anything but animals. My first feeding was an Elk. And Alex said the scent was all over me even hours later.’ I chuckled.
