The next morning I wake up to whimpers. Instincts kick in and I run to the nursery. Both pups are crawling around searching for food.
I let out a breath of relief to know that my pups are ok.
James appeared next to me with two bottles. I smile and take one. I then pick up Shadow while James cradles Light.
An hour later the pups are asleep and back in the floor crib.
James smiles at me. “I guess we can start packing. I’ll handle our clothes. You worry about the pups.”
I smile back and nodd. James leaves the nursery.
I turn to one of the shelves that has a large bag. I pack blankets and a few clothes and items for incase the pups finally do shift.
Once finished the bag is half full. I head down stairs and fill the rest of the bag with bottles and the pup formula.
I zip up the bag and head back to the nursery. Both pups are still sleeping.
I smile to myself and then grab the pup’s basket. I make a bed out of blankets in it for the trip.
James appears with a large duffel bag full of clothes. “It’s noon. I’m going to load the bags and the playpen then I’ll come back and help feed.”
I nodded and handed the pup’s bag to James.
A few hours later were on the road. I’m in the back with the pups while James drives toward the castle.
It will be a few hours so I just doze.
~*Sky POV*~
‘That child is so dam stubborn.’ Aurora’s voice rang through my head.
I walk down one of the many castle halls on an errand to find a particular vegan vampire.
Aurora was agitated over Celesta. The child still had her moments but most of the time she was a mature adult about things.
And her right hand vampire is annoying as well. He purposely avoided me. But I knew that Celesta had a level head and was best for the crown.
‘Oliver,’ Aurora sneered the name. ‘That useless excuse for a vampire doesn’t even follow the laws properly. Human feedings are only permitted by the claim. Yet he has multiple users. Why don’t we get rid of him?’
I sniff the air as I search for Vance, the vegan vampire. ‘Because his second is command would kill and take the crown for himself is he could. And because Celesta is trustworthy.’
Aurora snorted in my head. I sighed and ignored her.
Finally Vance’s scent strengthened so I followed it down a hall. It went up a staircase to one of the watch towers. Once in the small room, I saw Vance at a table, looking out over a chunk of the grounds.
“Vance, Celesta needs us in the throne room.”
The vampire looked up and sighed. “Oh her highness has finally noticed my request? Only took the little twit a few weeks.”
I growled but didn’t respond.
A few moments later I stood in the throne room with Celesta, Oliver, and Vance.
Celesta cleared her throat. “Vance, I understand you want to go to Daniel’s pack and help out in that area. And due to your past help with his pack you have been accepted. But you may only leave with James and Whisper when they leave after visiting for a few weeks.”
Vance nodded and Oliver spoke up. “So were letting our vampires go to the pack now? What happened to separation?”
Celesta gave Oliver a dirty look. “Separation is what started the war and the down fall of our world. And if you have an issue with that then you may leave and I will council the vampires alone with only Sky.”
