~*Fay’s POV*~
A memory tingles at the edges of my mind. Death has told me that I should have no memories left but there is one. A single name pops into my head from time to time.
Whisper Woods. I don’t know why this name appears but it does. And when I think about it a memory of a very young girl plants it’s self into my thoughts.
I try to rid myself of the memory as I appear at a familiar place. This house was in one of my attacks before I recall a little boy and his father and uncle. Each were killed the same as every victim.
But now the house has residents once again. I take a deep breath to find a single vampire lives here now. Probably a family member or friend.
One vampire does me no good. I need more than one to gain more power. I turn away to leave but Death speaks through my mind. ‘You have been guided here for a reason. The woman is alone and weak but she holds a great knowledge. Speak to her and learn what you can. Then you may leave with or without her death on your hands.’
I sigh and walk up to the door. I fix my hair quickly and wave the shadows away before knocking on the door.
A very old woman answers the door. But her blood red eyes give her away. I smile sweetly. “Hello, I was told you were a very wise woman and that I should talk to you. I’ve got so many questions.”
The woman smiles and brings me into her house. It still smells of death from its last occupants.
The woman has me sit on a chair at a table before pulling one up herself. “So young lady, what has brought you to grandmother Rowan? Questions of your life?”
I sigh and listen to Death who whispers into my mind. ‘Ask of your memory you speak of. There is a reason why you have it if you truly have it.’
I clear my throat and place my hands on the table. “I would like to know about Whisper Woods. Do you know of her?”
Rowan smiles widely. “I do know of her. But you must tell me. Are you of the Dark World?”
I nodd and the old woman continues. “Ah good, I don’t need any humans asking about her. Whisper is a hybrid who has mothered monster hybrids destined to change the world. Her children are destined for a great battle which looms near. I sense that you play a major role. Don’t ask how I know these things because there is no answer.”
I nodd. “Tell me more about Whisper. My boss will speak to me about the rest.”
The woman frowns. “Death should already know all. And I have lived many years because of my gifts and his blessing that I stole in my youth. But I understand that he cannot tell you all for your future will reveal itself in due time. I will warn you. Whisper and her children are a bad thing for the likes of you. But you wish to hear upon your daughter. Whisper has changed into a different person since your death and rebirth Mrs. Fay Woods. But you wouldn’t remember her because of your deal with Death. I wish you luck on your journeys and I offer my life to our great master.”
I sit in shock and confusion as the woman stands and leaves the room. A moment later she comes back and kisses my head before bowing before me.
Death shouts through my head and clears my thoughts with his booming voice. ‘Kill her now! She has offered herself and I will not wait for her death anymore.’
Obeying Death, I lean down and bite onto the woman’s neck. She does not struggle as I drain the life and blood from her body. After she is dead I drop her body and leave. Once outside I shift into shadows to go to the next house.
Death talks into my mind at this time. ‘Yes, it is true that your enemy is also your spawn. But you must erase these thoughts because we near the time to kill and to take your place of power. You should only need a few more families. Next week we will make our appearance and show the Dark World that the vampires can never out run Death!’
I nodd and continue on my task at hand.
~*Fisk’s POV*~
I jump off the bus at start walking. My cell phone rings in my pocket as I enter an alleyway.
I answer without looking at the caller id. “Hello? Fisk Flame here. If you don’t pay then you burn. Who is calling?”
“Yes, Fisk, it’s Jeremy. I have the payment sir.”
I sigh. “Ok, I’ll text you my address and you mail it to me. I left the state and won’t be coming back.”
A sigh of relief comes over the line. “Yes, sir. I’ll mail it as soon as possible. I wish you luck on your travels.”
Jeremy hangs up and I tuck my phone back into my pocket. I pull out my lighter and start playing with it.
Diego huffs. ‘Why can’t we go back and burn some houses. You haven’t let me out in a long ass time Fisk. Come on man.’
I growl as I start to walk down the alley. ‘Because you burn too much. You’re out of control when I let you out. If we can find a good empty house then I’ll think about it but otherwise forget it!’
Diego growls. ‘I can’t help it. It’s just who I am.’
I sigh and end up in a different street. I look around and spot a house for sale. I look at the houses next door and both seem empty. ‘If I let you burn then house then will you shut the hell up?’
Diego barks in my head. ‘I promise to not complain for at least two weeks. Now can we please go it?’
I sigh and walk up to the house. I snap the lock of the door and slip into the living room and close the door behind me.
I strip out of my clothes and push them out of the open window. I pop my knuckles before forcing my body to shift. As I shift I notice a mirror. I watch as my body transforms into Diego’s form.
I shiver as Diego takes over. Instead of fur, flames cover my entire body. I watch as the floor around my feet start to burn. Diego laughs and suddenly the flames that act like fur grow in size.
Within second’s I’m standing in an inferno that is so hot it melts anything that doesn’t burn. I see the mirror as it warps in the heat.
A sudden joy and exhilaration fills me and I want to run around the house to let my fire feed its hunger for wood. After only a few minutes I find myself in a mountain of ashes and melted metal.
I look around before shifting back. My clothes are still in tack as they lay in the yard. I quickly get dressed and leave the scene.
I jog down the alley and I finally stop when I find myself in front of a very apartment building.
Diego laughs in my head. ‘That felt amazing. So much energy to let out all at once. Didn’t even give any one time to call 911.’
I sigh. ‘Yeah well you had your fun. I still like to burn but you rush it too much. There’s no fun in it for me when you do it. Ends too quickly.’
Diego snorts. ‘You like to watch the flames. I just like the feeling of burning things. But I’m not gona just stand in front of a mirror to watch my flames all day. But I guess I need to say thanks for letting me out.’
I shake my head. ‘Well with a small town like this we have to keep moving. Unless you want us both to be kept in prison for a few years?’
Diego growls. ‘Then let’s go. What are you waiting for?’
I sigh and walk to the nearest bus stop.
I get on the bus and ask for the most western town it’s headed for.
