~*Whisper POV*~
James wakes me with a tap on the shoulder. I sit up and look around. We’re in the castle’s driveway.
I get out of the car and James hands me the pup’s basket. I watch as he goes to the trunk and lifts out our bags. A vampire appears and starts taking some of the bags.
We follow him through the castle once we have our belongings. We are lead to a large double room. One room has a large crib and the other has a king sized bed. The vampire bows before leaving without a word. James shrugs and starts to set the bags on the bed.
Suddenly a werewolf appears in the open doorway of our room. “Master Celesta has requested your attendance in the throne room once you are available. On her personal message she wishes to greet the puppies.”
James nodds and picks up the pup’s basket. “We can unpack later. Let’s see what the issue is since we came all this way.”
I agree and follow the werewolf to the throne room. It has been redecorated with a shade of light blue and the carpet replaced as well.
Celesta stands near the throne speaking to a familiar face.
When we enter Celesta turns and smiles and so does the vampire she had been speaking with.
Celesta peers into the basket at the pups and smiles wide. “My they have grown. How old are they?”
The vampire speaks up before I could answer. “The… puppies appear to be a month and a few weeks. But that is impossible with even hybrid standards. I would guess they are only a few weeks and grow because of Shay’s blood.”
James growls. “They are a week and we don’t need you answering for us. We are the parents Oliver. And it appears you have not changed since the last time we met.”
Oliver appears to answer back but Celesta holds up her hand and Oliver closes his mouth.
Celesta sighs and waves her hand. “Oliver dear, please do leave before you cause a scene with your mouth running before your respects. And it is delightful to know that the pups are growing so fast. Sky claims that you have named them for their colors? Shadow and Light, am I right?”
I nodd and smile. “Yes, James named them. And they are growing rapidly. The doctor says that they should open their eyes soon too.”
Celesta clapped her hands and smiled. “Amazing! But they are not why I asked you here. I wish to discuss an issue which you have just witnessed. Oliver is the only high ranking vampire I have that can work in the castle and be properly obeyed. Even his second is a black plague waiting to happen. And I have no others to stand for the vampire’s race. And as queen and a child vampire I cannot come to be their leading words.”
James nodded and thought for a moment before speaking. “Well then we need to find someone who can take that place. And until then you will have to deal with what you can do.”
Celesta nodded. “I know this. On another subject, your friend Vance plans on becoming a member of Daniel’s pack and wishes to be a personal body guard if needed. Daniel and I have both agreed to this so he will join you on your trip home.”
I speak up this time. “Sounds like a good idea. I like him and he has been respectable to us before.”
Celesta nodded and turned away. “Well then I guess there were not as many matters to be discussed as I had thought. Sky should be joining us shortly is she is not too busy arguing with her wolf. But otherwise all is well for now.”
I tilted my head and was fixing to ask something when Sky’s voice rang through the hall. “Great! You’re here!”
Sky smiled and looked at the pups that were sleeping in the basket. “My, they have grown in the last few days.”
