~*Whisper POV*~

~Two weeks later~

I lay Light into her bed and cover her up. She rolls over in her sleep as I leave. I check on Shadow and see that he is asleep in his bed as well.

I yawn and head down stairs. James is sitting at the dining room table eating his late dinner.

I pull up a chair and sit next to him. “Both kids are asleep.”

James nodds. “Well I’m almost done with the training under Daniel. He wants me to go ahead and start the Alpha work but I told him I want to spend a few weeks with my family first. I’ve been gone too much.”

I sigh. “You have been. We should take a vacation then. Go out somewhere and have a week of fun.”

James sets his fork down and looks at me. “We need to stay here. I haven’t said anything but there have been reports of the vampire population dropping rapidly. I didn’t want to worry you but something is killing the vampires off. Celesta doesn’t think it’s a problem with how over populated the vampires are but Sky understands that it could be more than just vampires next time.”

I look at James concerned. “So whoever is killing vampires could kill other Dark World creatures? Do you think it has anything to do with the prophecy?”

James shrugs. “There’s no telling. But whatever is killing the vampires is has killed a few hundred in the last month.”

My jaw drops in surprise. “That would have to be over 20 murders a night.”

James nodds again. “Well whoever is killing them is also draining the blood from them too. It’s strange but it seems that it may be a vampire killing vampires but celesta says that’s impossible. The reason why vampires have to drink is because their own blood doesn’t have the oxygen that humans have in their blood. So a vampire killing vampires won’t work.”

I sigh. “Well then I guess leaving the pack isn’t going to help.”

James nodds and stands from the table. I stand and follow him to the living room.

He sits on the couch and I sit next to him and he wraps him arm around me.

Lean my head against him. “What do you think about the pups growing so fast?”

James sighs. “I think it has to deal with the Prophecy. They have slowed down since their shift but they looked around 7 then. Now they appear 9. I bet that they play a major part of the Prophecy.”

I sigh sadly. “I just hope that they both live through it. I do worry that Light is too sweet for it though. Shadow has shown that he is the strong one out of the twins.”

James nodds. “I think it has to deal with their names too. Remember that Shadow was the one to speak the bad parts of the Prophecy. And Light spoke the better parts.”

I nodd. “I still worry.”

James sighs and kisses my head. “I do too. But if this Prophecy is to take place before next year then they kids are going to have to grow up some more to do anything.”

I had a sudden thought. “James, what about their teens? And puberty?”

James froze before sighing. “I really don’t know. We just have to do what we can with what we are given.”

I nodded. After awhile we went to bed.

~*Sky’s POV*~

I wake up early in the morning. I stretch and shift into my human.

Aurora suddenly starts to bitch. ‘Why is it you let me out when it’s time to sleep but I have to stay cooped up for everything else?’

I sigh and put my jacket on and start to button it up. “Well one reason is that it’s the only time I can let you out.  Another reason is because you have no hands to carry thing or to write with. And you can’t talk to the vampires when we need to give orders. Now stop bitching.”

Aurora growls but shut up. I left my room and walked to the main office. One of the shifters sat at a desk trying to straighten a stack of papers.

I smile at her. “Hay Tasha, can you give me today’s reports?”

Tasha nodds and pulls out a drawer. She hands me a large stack of papers. “There’s a lot today. We have more reports of vampire deaths in the south. There have been large fires reported near the west. Most have been in werewolf family homes. Only one was a human home but we suspect that the family had relations with the Dark World. There also have been reports of vampire burnings in the same area. We suspect the burnings and fires are related.”

I nodd and skim over the papers. “Thanks Tasha. How’s your dad?”

The young girl shrugs. “Same as always. I’d get to work if I were you, Sky.”

I laugh and leave the girl to her work.

I read through the papers as I walk to the throne room.

Celesta sits at a table near the center of the room. The large table is full of papers. I walk up and see that Celesta is pushing buttons on her calculator.

I clear my throat. “Celesta, I have today’s report. Most vampire deaths and now there are burnings and fires in the west. The ones in the west are all fire related while the ones in the south are still the draining of blood. Other then more death as far as I can tell we have no news. But on one note the vampire population has dropped a lot. A few more days like the last and the populations will be evened out again. But I fear that it will cause a possibility of extinction for a species.”

Celesta writes something down before looking at me. “Let’s worry about populations after we clear the murderers from our list of worries. I need someone to go investigate and bring the fire starter in first. The vampire killer will have to wait till we can get more clues about its pattern.”

I nodd and place the papers on the table. After picking out the ones on the fires and burnings I leave the room. I head back to my room where I place them on my desk in my room and start to highlight any details.

After a while I notice a trail. The one who is burning everything is moving northeast. So this person should be pretty close to here in a few weeks. I decide to wait till this guy is closer before making any moves.

Aurora decides to comment. ‘I bet that this person has something to do with the Prophecy. Why else would this person just randomly start killing after we learned of the future?’

I think for a moment. ‘Maybe that this person is the golden one to be killed. If that’s the case then let’s not worry about him for now.’

Aurora sighs. ‘This person may not be a male but either way I feel that he is important in the Prophecy. I’m just curious about who plays what role.’

I shrug and get back to work.
