Chapter 30

"You all must be on your best behavior until Miss Honey and I return." Miss Peregrine was busy laying down the rules after breakfast was finished, specifically towards the older kids since they would be watching over the home.

"Relax, Miss P, we've got this. You've left us in charge before." Emma assures her with a smile.

"We'll keep everything in line." Horace adds, the older woman allowing some of her worries to ease and thanked them.

"We shouldn't be gone long." Alma says, glancing over at the little ones with an assuring look.

Jenny had just finished getting a shower, changing into a light yellow button up with a pair of her black slacks before heading downstairs. The children haven't seen her for a few days and she tried avoiding attracting a lot of attention with a lot on her mind, but of course Emma had noticed her first when she reached the last step, immediately rushing over and throwing her arms tight around her waist. Jenny stumbled from the impact but regained her footing, looking over at the blonde who held her tight before returning the gentle hold.

"We were so worried about you." Emma says quietly to where only Jenny could hear.

"I'm alright." Miss Honey assures her, the girl finally pulling away to look up at her, the brunette sending her a small smile that Emma managed to return.

"Miss Honey!" Bronwyn came running over, hugging the woman tight and Jenny held on to the banister when the girl lifted her off her feet. "We missed you."

"I missed you too, dear." Jenny says with a soft chuckle, the girl releasing her and setting her back down. Alma had just tucked her pocket watch away and finished situating the others before glancing over at Jenny to see if she was ready. She was taken aback for a moment, her cheeks burning slightly when she seen the woman. It was the first in days she had seen the brightness return to her eyes, most of her pain no longer there as a smile graced her features when she met the ravenette's gaze. It took the older woman a moment to think before Emma cleared her throat, signaling Alma to look back over and try to hide the blush in her cheeks, sending the girl a glare at the look she sent her.

"Will Matilda be with you when you come back?" Claire asks.

"Yes, we will have her with us. We won't be gone long, just to go get her and return shortly after." Alma informs. "We will be heading to Miss Cuckoo's loop, so it isn't far. Be on your best behavior as I am putting Horace, Emma and Olive in charge while I'm gone."

"I'm sure we'll be just fine." Olive says, Alma taking one last look at her watch before tucking it away.

"Stay in the home until we are back." She adds, the children obeying and saying their goodbyes before Jenny and her left the home.

"We won't take the carriage, we can get there much faster if we shift." The ravenette says, looking over at the younger woman. "Will you be fine doing so?"

"Of course." Jenny replies, immediately shifting into a Honeyguide. The older woman smiled and followed suite, leading the way for Jenny to follow as they flew to the ymbrynes loop.

It wasn't as long as Jenny thought it would be, about 40 minutes of flying and finally Alma dived down towards the ground. The Honeyguide followed, trying to catch up to the falcon who slowed down when she seen Jenny struggling to catch up. Both of them swooped down, Alma casually shifting back before her talons even touched the ground. She waited for Jenny who perched on the grassy land before shifting back herself, running her hands through her mussed hair to flatten it.

"This is it?" Jenny asks, taking in the surroundings. It felt a little colder than Alma's loop, a slight chill running through the younger woman. She would have brought a jacket had she known.
