Cheers to more opportunities!
Cheers to a wonderful experience!
Cheers to a successful life!
Those are the things all they are toasting for. Well, I am included in this one. I am included to toast for this hopeful manifestations of a good life. However, behind this pretentious facade. A scared woman who is being delusional about being positive all the time, can't help but feel distress in disguise.
In this large rooftop of my Tío's hotel, filled with gold sparkling fairy lights and bulb patio along with a big setup of tables and chairs good for ten persons and a nice arrangement of green plants on the edges. The place embraced us with a cold December air and gave me shivers at an unknown time. Thanks to the wine, it made me feel warm after a few shots.
Tito and Justine are also celebrating with us tonight and that makes us eight persons having an exclusive party at this massive modern rooftop. They are having fun even though we lost the competition. But then, it is still worth celebrating since we have come this far. I really want to join in and be sociable, but thinking what would my mother react to this one is making me feel sick.
As soon as I heard that our country was not called for the championship title, one thing that immediately flashed into my mind is the reaction of my mother once she knew the results. I am worried not only because we lost, but also because I lied to her. I was too confident the night before the competition but reality always never ceases the opportunity to humble me.
I lost, we lost, and when I get back home, I will be a big disappointment in her eyes. Perhaps, the moment I will be stepping in the house, I will be filled with painful scars and salty tears and that's...
That's a complete nightmare!
"Nicole, want to have another shot?" Kuya Floyd asked and I politely rejected the offer. He tilted his head when he saw through me but I just swayed him with some playful words to make him believe that I am doing good. Later on, when no one's actually minding my presence, I decided to silently walk away from this place. It is not that I want to keep this problem to myself but I just don't want to ruin the mood or be a so-called kill joy.
I walked inside the elevator to go down on a certain floor while overflowing the space in my head with unnecessary thoughts. But before the elevator could completely close, a hand from outside reached on it and stopped the anticipated closing of the elevator.
"George, where are you going?" He asked with concern in his eyes and I can sense he knew something. He can read me in a second but what can I expect. He already knew everything about me and my life so no matter what I do, he can catch up with it so easily.
"I—I don't know." Exactly, I don't have any idea where I am going to. He just helped woke up from my senses. He took a deep sigh and let himself in. From a safe distance, he just stood by my side and does not make any unnecessary movements.
"I am going with you." He casually said and tapped the 20th floor. I am confused as to why that number. But he got a room there all by himself. The elevator goes down as it should and we both stayed silent. There are many times the elevator stopped and tons of people had been in and out until we reached the 20th one.
We both walked out and Justine silently led me to a certain room. He released the keys on his pocket and was about to open it but he somehow stopped in the middle of it.
"I wasn't thinking right. I forgot to say if it is okay with you to stay at my room for tonight?" He asked and I blinked a few times realizing the situation we are in. I'm not used to entering a bedroom with a guy unless they are my cousins. But we've already did it a few times and nothing actually happened. Besides, he knows his limits and will never take advantage of me.
