MONTHS LATER
--------------------------

November 20, 2006

A lone figure crouched atop a towering building, shrouded in the shadows of the night. Dressed in black, with a sleek cloak trailing behind her, her hood covering her, a cloth masked her mouth and nose, revealing only beautiful blue eyes and a few strands of fiery red hair that danced in the cold wind. Elegant yet battle-hardened, she surveyed the broken city below.

The world had fallen into chaos. War had brought devastation, leaving scars across nations. From her vantage point, Rose could hear the desperate cries of those mourning their loved ones-victims of bombers who had breached the first lines. Though they were eventually taken down, the damage had already been done. Fires still burned, smoke rising to the heavens as if pleading for mercy.

It had been eight months since Jonathan left, and the world had plunged further into darkness.

Tonight marked the completion of her most challenging task: establishing the final safe perimeter. She had ensured that survivors within its bounds had access to food, water, medical supplies, and even a bunker for protection. It had taken everything she had.

Her small team-Mira, Frank, and Percy-had become indispensable to her. Together, they had endured exhaustion, hunger, and thirst as they worked to rescue and protect those who survived.

On May 17, 2006, she had infiltrated that isolated spot marked on the map-a hellish place, underground bunker where she found 600 children and 143 adults who had been kidnapped, tortured, and some stripped of their dignity. The price of her mission had been high. She had been too late to save many of them, their lives lost to the horrors they endured before she could break in. The planning had taken time due to the extra work of establishing safe perimeters and she had hated herself more for losing more than she had saved, it was unforgiveable.

She had done it alone. She wish she could save everyone... All over the world, locked and in war.

Mira Frank, Percy and her soldiers, she had ordered them away as fast as she had finished planning the break in of the bunker. She had sent them to help out in the safe perimeters, anywhere bombs had landed and to get supplies.

She had not wanted them to see what her family had done or lose anyone there.

For those she had rescued from those bunkers, Rose had managed to take them to Midnight Fortress, where she hoped they could somehow leave behind the fear, hurt and hate. Where they could survive the war.

Every child and adult contributed to the grounds, helping sustain the community in some way. Their collective effort gave them a sense of purpose and hope in the midst of chaos.

When Rose saw the place she had been awed. Levi and Gabriel had done a great job, they had helped many. She had seen more smiles and the way they were around Levi made her keep her hope for justice. Gabriel and him had helped them manage the anger and take out what they felt for the better. Gabriel with his actions had caused a change, he had shown what the true word was without imposing or judging anyone. He was just love.

Before leaving, Rose exchanged a few quiet words with Levi, Wyatt, Gabriel, and a few others checking on how everyone was doing. It gave her a brief moment of solace knowing they were safe, even as the weight of all drowned her. As if she didn't deserve to even know.

When she had taken those children and adults she had hidden her identity unfortunately her disguise had been compromised, and before she could depart, she endured waves of judgment. Rocks and insults were hurled at her by those who saw her as nothing more than a reflection of her family's atrocities. Their anger and hatred forced her to flee under the cover of night.
